Wonderful little place. Great jazz/fusion music playing, and a simple but robust menu of awesome flavors. I got the seafood linguini and for $12.95 you get a huge bowl of amazing shrimp/seabass/ and another fish I cant remember cooked perfectly with an amazing spicy sauce. Just amazing. Tried a sample of the mushroom soup and that is also delectable! As well as the bread with the creamy balsamic dip, oh my god. Would highly recommend checking Angel City Cafe out!!!

(-) Over-rated! Supervisor on duty seemed to show favoritism to certain ethnic group. He offered free dessert to two elderly caucasian females for being first time customers, knowing that we were also first time customers he failed to offer us the same. (+) You are able to take your own alcohol/beverages (-) Food is doable nothing out of the ordinary. No to the over-cooked, burned fries!

This place is a GEM! Came here for dinner after work and the food definitely hit the right spot. The cajun clam chowder was DELICIOUS, I've never had anything like it before and will be going back for more. The shrimps in the shrimp scampi were seasoned and grilled to perfection. The sea bass was pretty tasty on first bite, but got a little bland halfway through the dish, though it was still overall pretty good. And did I mention, the prices at this place are hard to beat! Will definitely be going back to try their other dishes

Nice local spot with friendly service and good food. The menu is limited, but everything that we tried was pretty good. The server was very informative about the evening's specials and entrees. My girlfriend and I were debating about dessert and order the bread pudding. Noticing that we were not thrilled with the selection, he brought out the banana split sundae, which was much better, on the house. It will definitely get another visit from us.

Love this place. Staff is efficient and personable. Food rocks. Prices are obscene, I feel like i am stealing from them. They could raise their prices a bit and it would still be a bargain. I love the Ahi Taquito, Sea Bass, Salads, Shoestring french fries, Home made bread & Balsamic spread are so yummy. The only negative is the menu is limited, hopefully Chef will start having some "daily specials" to bring some variety to the menu. The sauces are great! Desserts are good too,I loved the bread pudding. Pay them a visit, I promise you will be back. Oh, I forgot, no liquor license, but you can BYOB, no corkage fee.

I wish I could give this place 2 1/2 stars and we'll try it again in 6 months and see if we can upgrade our rating. Basically, what's clear is that it's very new. The staff are green. The decor is nice but it's clear where they had to cut corners. It's awfully dark and disappointingly noisy. The food is OK. Not bad. Not yet good. But all of it has promise and Woodland Hills is really in need of a place like this with a comfortable ambiance, good solid food and reasonable prices. So we're pulling for them and we're open to a better rating when they work some of the kinks out.

What a nice surprise! This is definitely our new favorite restaurant. From the amazing food, to the super friendly and helpful staff, everything was beyond terrific. We went here on a suggestion from a friend and couldn't have been more satisfied. I myself am a vegan and the chef was able to prepare up an eggplant/vegetable dish that was so tasty. My boyfriend had the ahi tuna taquitos and the seafood linguini with spicy red sauce that he said were both incredible. Along with the fresh bread! You can bring in your own wine to enjoy, with no cork fee. This restaurant is what eating out should be about. I cant wait to come back.

Service was excellent! The wait staff was very friendly! They have a nice, well priced menu, with reasonable options. I had the chicken tortillas soup and tri tip salad. I found both to be very UNDER seasoned, although nicely presented. My companions enjoyed the blacked chicken sandwich and tri tip sandwich, as well as the French fries.

Friendly service, great crowd, delicious food! Ahi Tuna Taquitos, Potato Crusted Sea Bass, and Creme Brulee did not disappoint. First time here and will definitely be back.

My boyfriend took me here on a recommendation from his cousin. What a great place! The menu is vast -- many familiar dishes, most with some kind of original twist to them. I had the blackened catfish (it came with some savory shrimp mashed potatoes and corn jimbalaya) and my boyfriend had the seabass. Amazing. I really was shocked because everything is so modestly priced. Bread pudding - out of this world. I have never ever liked bread pudding. I thought it was a bland desert. This place knows how to do it! They know what they are doing wit their food, their ambiance, and their service - with no pretentious prices or attitudes to show for it. Absolutely love it! 5 stars!!

I went with a couple of colleagues from work. We all had different things and were very pleased. The waitress was a lot of fun. They don't have a liquor license - but they don't have a corkage fee either. She encouraged us to get a bottle down the street. I'll be back!

My sister found this on yelp when trying to find a place to eat lunch and we were very happy . First of all the bread was warm and delicious and had a yummy dressing. My sister and I split the spinach salad and it had the same yummy dressing as the bread. It was very good. Our friend had the salmon salad which she said was also very good. Next we split the rosemary chicken in mushroom sauce and it was also great. We will definitely be returning to try some desserts. It has a limited menu, but I think you will be happy with anything you order. Not to mention the prices are so low for the quality of food..

Met a friend for lunch here yesterday. We were all impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. Wait staff was excellent also. Would definitely return!!

This was our second visit to the restaurant. from the outside, if you did not know about it....you would definitely not venture inside. We went the first time on the recommendation of friends....Once inside, it is like another world....Clean, beautifully decorated...inviting. friendly staff..we received a welcome from everyone. Food is wonderful. Portions perfect. They will make everything the way that you want it. I requested salad dressing on the side...main dish sauce on the side. They will grill vegetables instead of sauteing...The Seabass is delicious. The first night we went they did not have specials...Tonight they had a nice variety. We were told that they are waiting for their new sign and also plan on fixing up the patio...As business owners ourselves, we know that everything takes time and are confident that they will keep adding food items, fixing up the outside and taking all helpful advise from their customers...We are so happy to have this restaurant in our neighborhood and wish them well.

After reading great reviews on Yelp, I expected something better. The menu prices were very reasonable(except if you order a special), and, as they don't serve alcohol, you can bring your own wine, no corkage. The average patron is 60+ and the noise level made the experience less than enjoyable. As for the food, I would say mediocre at best. I ordered the special rack of lamb medium rare. After waiting almost 45 minutes for our entrees, what came out were 5 small grilled lamb chops, ranging from medium to medium well. Not much flavor and way over-priced for what they were-$27.50. My daughter's tri-tip was also over-cooked and lacked flavor. We did finish with a nice creme brulee, creamy with a perfect sugar crust. Another 20 minute wait for our check. It was worth a try, but if you are looking for quality food at a reasonable price point, Cafe Bizou in Sherman Oaks blows this place away. That's where we are going next time.

I called Angel City tonight before deciding where we'd have dinner to find out if they had any specials. They had 4, and the grilled salmon caught my attention. Once again, a great meal. A table nearby had someone who ordered the steak special, and it was clear that he was enjoying his meal, too. I was happy to see that a lot more tables were filled tonight than on previous visits. Angel City absolutely deserves to survive.

One of my new favorite local restaurants. Love the simple menu. The salmon is nice and moist and served with a yummy sauce. The mushroom soup was perfectly creamy. Their bread - is dangerous - its served warm and from what I remember its homemade. What makes this place extra special is that its BYOB - with trader joes and whole foods near by its perfect. My boyfriend had the potato crusted sea bass and he went on and on about how good it was. We brought a big group and everyone really enjoyed everything they ordered. Must not forget to mention that the bread pudding is awesome.

I really like, & appreciate this place!!! I say that because the food and service here is great!! All the while, this place manages (somehow) to keep their prices relatively low. I'm still amazed how they can give you great food, while not charging typical Ventura Blvd. Restaurant prices. THANK YOU, Angel City Cafe, for giving me a quality dining experience, everytime, without dinging my wallet! :) The Champagne mushroom soup is amazing!!! I haven't tried everything on their menu yet, but I don't think you can go wrong. Everytime I come, this place is on the quieter side. Maybe more people need to spread the word about this place! They usually tend to play Frank Sinatra, or some sort of artist along those lines, which is an extra plus in my book. Nice place if you're looking for a more mellow, romantic, but laid back atmosphere. They dont sell liquor (or at least from what I recall), but welcome you to bring your own. And there is a liquor store down the block if you're dying for wine with your meal.

I'm so pleased to have found the Angel City Cafe! Finally a restaurant with good customer service, generous portions of delicious fresh gourmet food, BYOB with NO corkage, nice atmosphere, great jazz playing through the speakers, and best part - reasonable prices!! Thank you Angel City Cafe for doing everything right! Thank you for not price gauging your food like most restaurants like to do. Please keep it just the way it is. Don't change a thing! We'll be back again and again!

I found the Cafe via a web search and wasn't certain if it was a restaurant so I called to confirm. I went as an experiment with seven family members for my birthday and was happily surprised by the food for the price. I would say it gets excellent value versus the price. They don't have a liquor license so I waked to trader joes and bought wine and no corkage which also kept my bill cheap. It's not a romantic place and lights are too bright but given the value and I can bring my own booze I will be back

  • Teresa K.

My husband and I were totally blown away by the excellent food and service, especially when they only charge "cafe" prices. We are pretty picky with restaurants. Angel City Cafe has 5-star food and very professional service. We had to wait 35 minutes for our food but that only means that everything is made from scratch, unlike other restaurants that pre-make everything. We had our 2 babies with us and they were very careful when serving food to us to make sure the hot plates don't touch the babies. A real gem in our neighborhood. We will be back!!!!

I never write reviews because i also never felt so strongly about a restaurant before...and i mean it in a negative way. I had high hopes because of the rave reviews but was very disappointed with the food and service. We had the soup special, potato crusted sea bass, and alfredo pasta. I wanted to try the ahi tuna taquitos but they were out (boo!). Sea bass was ok. A little greasy but the bright sauce cut through the greasiness. Soup was ok. Alfredo pasta was dry and lacked seasoning. Complimentary bread and dipping sauce were the best part of the meal. The people were super nice but were a lil neglectful. They never offered drink refills and we were done eating before we finally got them to refill our drinks. And to think that there were only 3 other parties in the restaurant. Wouldve been nice to have dessert but i had enough of waiting. Idk if we were there at a bad time but i wont be going back to find out

My wife and friends tried this new restaurant recently and liked it a lot. As others have said bread is delicious as we're all appetizers, especially the taquitos. I loved my seafood pasta, plentiful, full of good fish and really very good. Prices were very reasonable if not cheap. Deserts were excellent. A little quiet and in need of a bit more decor or ambiance, but would top recommend this place to anyone.

I love mushroom soup & had a fantastic bowl of it at Angel City Cafe. Shrimp Scampi was also very very yummy. Enjoyed the restaurant very much, friendly warm soft, nice music & nice people, a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Looking forward to taking out of town guests and friends from across town there. BYOB with no corkage fee is a great thing too.

If you have lots of free time then go, if not then don't. Food was excellent and came out quickly because there was no one there when we first went in but the place started to fill up and with only 1 waitress (was told that is normal-1 waitress!) she never came back to ask if we needed anything and it took forever to get our check, we had to go over to her to get it. Also AC was broken so it was really hot in there. Bottom line, they are sacrificing some customer service to make more money, there is no way one waitress no matter how good can give the service required with that many people there. Was hoping we found a new local place as we moved here not that long ago but the search continues! If they add a waitress or 2 it could be a winner.

Awesome meal. LOVE the ahi taquitos, the potato crusted seabass and the desserts!! This is our new favorite and affordable restaurant. Thank you for the amazing service and attention to detail. LOVE the desserts. Great for lunch and dinner. We had an incredible Valentine's Dinner.

This was our third time dining for lunch. We loved it previously and angel city was going to be our new hangout to eat. . If it had been the first, we wouldn't go back. Same food ordered. mushroom soup. always delicious. this time it was boring, missing something. chopped salad. Far too much dressing and whatever is smoky in it overpowers the salad. My friend had 4 slices of avocado, mine had 2. She had a lot more salad than me and we both ordered 1/2 salads. Mentioned it to the server and he shrugged and walked away. Had to ask for bread 3 times.. No one offered more tea and the one extra glass I got I had to wave for several times. We felt like we were an afterthought in the restaurant. The same waiter as previously which was new our first visit. He pushed too hard to get us to order when we sat down barely giving us the menus. After ordering he was almost non existent and we kept having to flag him down if we needed anything. The menu is limited with great choices. The prices are terrific and the food on previous visits was memorable. Hope this visit was a fluke. Will go one more time and hope things are back on track or my raving to others will cease.

We have had dinner here several time and each time the food has been excellent! the ahi tuna appetizer is particularly good. The service and staff are excellent and very accomodating. What more can you look for in a restaurant than excellent food, great prices and great service. We have become regulars and look forward to introducing our friends to this find.

  • Lola R.

I have been there twice and each time I did like the food, but the service for lunch was so slow both times. Today we waited 45 minutes before we were told that they did not have the appetizer we ordered (ahi tuna taquitos) available, we then ordered the shrimp scampi and it was nothing special. Our entrees were good, I had the Sea Bass and my friend had the Chicken Parmesan Special, both were good, but since we had by then been there for a little over an hour before we received our entrees, we both decided we would not be going back. Too bad, they need to get the service in check.

The service was excellant and our food was served very quick and perfectly prepared. The complementary freshly baked bread was served with butter and a delicious balsamic dipping sauce. I could not stop eating the fresh bread dipping it in the most delicious Balsamic sauce oh my god, I could not get enough of it. The Bass fish was the best fish I have ever ever tasted, I could not believe how scruptious it was, hummmm just thinking about it. The Shrimp Scampi Appetizer was delicious my husband so enjoyed it. He also had the Ahi Taquitos, it was delicious out of this world. My daughter had the Grilled Chicken Breast with the mushroom sauce, no word how to describe this fantactic dish, it was a generous portion and came with vegetable that was cooked perfectly. Prices are so so so reasonable for the quality and quanity of the food you are getting. Lets talk about desert you just cant get enough of it, the bread pudding out of this world, go to Angel City Cafe and you will experience the very best in food, service and prices. I left there so full but so happy. Dont put it off, its so worth it going to Angel City Cafe!!!! Make sure you wear comfortable pants, LOL you will enjoy the food so much!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to go back again real soon!!!

Went here last night and really enjoyed this place. The food was very good and the best prices you'll find anywhere. 2 of us had the Sea Bass which was great and only $11.50. We brought our own bottle of wine which was extra good since there's no corkage fee. Gus was our waiter, nice guy and he couldn't have been more attentive. They have a nice patio out front and we were told it's doggie friendly so can't wait to come back when the weather is warmer with my dog. The atmosphere is quite nice too, open kitchen so you get to see the chef at work and decent decor. You just can't beat this place for good food at a bargain price. And yes, the chef drinks water directly out of his water pitcher but it's clearly HIS pitcher of water and he has a hot job in the kitchen, so big fat deal. And yes, the patio is the concrete sidewalk on Ventura Blvd, what do you expect, the garden of Eden? I'd take this place over another boring cookie cutter chain restaurant any day!

  • Richard C.

Agree with most, this is a great value for the food. Had the sea bass, shrimp scampi and Ceasar salad, all great. No liquor license, no corkage fee, all the better, prefer to bring my own wine anyway. Bread was very good at the start, but subsequent servings seemed rushed, undercooked. The real problem here was the atmosphere. Room is too bright which makes it a bit stark given that the place has been a few different restaurants recently. Maybe lower the lights, put some simple candles on the tables. Wine glasses provided were same as the water glasses. Doesn't seem like it would be a big deal to have some real wine glasses. Likewise, asked for some olive oil and it came in a bowl. Would have been nice to have come in a simple olive oil bottle. Food and service were both very good which seems like the hard part, but the atmosphere and details are often what one wants when eating out. Could stand some simple background music, but given so many places that feel compelled to blow you out of the room, the quiet was actually a nice change. Hope this place makes it. Address a few details and I think it's a solid 4.5.

I was meeting friends in this area & we stopped by after reading the Yelp reviews. What a great find! We all enjoyed our dinners (Salmon, Seabass with potato crust, and Shrimp Alfredo). The Caesar salad was excellent. The staff was extremely polite and even had chilled mugs for our BYO beer. If I lived closer I would be back again. I think they could use a big A Frame Sign out front to let people know they are there. It can be easily missed just walking by.

  • Jen B.

Small menu, but they do everything on it well, from what our party of three had. Good soups. Sea bass was probably our favorite of the entrees. The creme brûlée our favorite dessert. We could have spent a long time socializing with the server if we weren't so tired. The look of the place could be a bit more up-to-date, but it was very clean. It makes no difference when the food and service is good.

  • Tamara H.

Decided to try this place after reading all the yelp reviews. Started off with the ahi tuna taquitos which were nothing special but the lobster sauce it came with was to die for. I got the rosemary chicken breast in lemon butter caper sauce which was excellent. The veggies were delicious too, nicely caramelized. Even my boyfriend enjoyed and he isn't even a fan of zucchini and squash. He got the potato crusted sea bass and said it wasn't very flavorful. The bread was fresh out of the oven and warm and crusty with a tasty dipping sauce. Good customer service. Only complaint the food took a while although we were like the only ones there. But it was worth the wait. Will be going back again!!

Tonight as a serendipity my husband and I tried Angel City Cafe for the first time. This charming restaurant is located in Woodlland Hills, diagonally across the street from Trader Joe's Market on Ventura Boulevard. When we saw the lovely decor through the generous windows, we were thinking it might be a bit expensive. What a delight to find that the fresh, delicious food they serve is priced so fairly! Our wait staff was wonderful, espescially Elmer who knew so much about the different dishes and was friendly and attentive all evening. The delicious potato crusted sea bass lived up to its reputation and was amazing! The mushroom soup was just creamy enough to let the mushrooms still be the stars. The b read was fresh and tasty and the candied pecan and goat cheese salad was every fine. We will come back soon to Angle City Cafe and next time we we'll bring our own wine because there is no corkage fee!

  • Tory T.

Such a bummer! Great service but pretty bad food. Got the potato crusted sea bass everyone has raved about and found it to be inedible. It was basically fried breading. The fish was indiscernible. Bread pudding was ok, but I've had better. Wish it was better since it's walking distance from home.

Woodland Hills really needs the Angel City Cafe. It's friendly, very reasonably priced neighborhood restaurant with plenty of free parking (the lot behind the building is a little tricky to find). The food and service are very good. The sea bass is outstanding and the bread pudding earned raves from our table.

  • Trip C.

Whenever I think of Woodland Hills only corporate monster chains come to mind. It's refreshing to finally find a new independent spot worth eating at! I ate dinner here last night with a friend of mine and were stoked to finally make it in after reading all of the great reviews. We had the ahi taquitos, spinach salad, tri-tip and my favorite the potato crusted sea bass. You know when you eat foods that mix breakfast and dinner components like steak and eggs? For some reason it is amazing! Maybe it's because I like eating cake for breakfast and fried egg sandwiches for dinner, I don't know. Well, the sea bass didn't fail in the inter-meal category. The potato on the outside was like eating crunchy, golden hash browns with perfectly cooked sea bass finished off with a lemon caper butter sauce. Yum! Service was great. Extremely friendly and personable. Did I mention the prices are more than reasonable? Needless to say I'll be back!

I waited a little too long to write my review, so I won't be able to put too much. All I remember is that we went pretty late (turned out to be a little too close to closing for me, but they were really cool about it). Had french pressed coffee, champagne mushroom soup, and I think the potato-crusted sea bass? Whatever it was, I remember really liking it. And they served us some fresh biscotti too, which was really good. Chatted with the owner and also with the chef a bit. They were very friendly and I hope I can go back soon to try their Sunday brunch. Wish they had a larger menu though.

Wow. What a find. First, food is great. Cooked to order. I'm addicted to their mushroom soup, sea bass & skinny fries. Bread is freshly baked & served hot w an amazing dipping sauce. And the prices are über-reasonable. Servers are friendly & efficient. Plenty of free parking in the back. I am just in love with this place. It's brand new, so it's the best-kept secret in Woodland Hills. But not for long...

We absolutely adore this wonderful neighborhood place. The food was outstanding, the fish was absolutely wonderful, and the salads were great. • Sally H.

Food is terrific....nicely sized portions with good preparation. Loved the no corkage fee. However my spinach salad, which was very tasty, had way too much dressing on it and therefore became more soggy than crisp. Our BIGGEST problem was the horrible and very loud noise level on a busy Sat night. It was so bad we left early and had coffee and dessert elsewhere. I'm really getting fed up with restaurants that do nothing to even try to minimize noise issues....it gives me plenty of reason not to return. Too bad as this is a promising place. The owner needs to talk to a designer or acoustic person and do something about the noise level!

We knew we were taking a gamble with this restaurant after reading some mixed reviews and reading their menu. Although we were not overwhelmingly impressed with their restaurant, we decided to give it a try considering it was close to home and was dog friendly. We were more nervous about their customer service than their food. However, the customer service was friendly and attentive ironically despite long periods of waiting. Their ahi tuna taquitos were tasty and delicious, but that was the highlight of the meal. My husband had a sirloin with a bordelaise sauce. The meat was tough, overcooked, and bland. The sauce also didn't have any flavor and body. I had the pasta bolognese, which was pretty forgettable. We really wanted to stick around for the chocolate bread pudding, which I'm sure would've been a saving grace but by now we were waiting awhile and just wanted to go home. It was so disappointing when we ended our night saying that we could've made a better meal at home.

we went here for dinner a few weeks ago- cozy spot, great food, very reasonable prices, and bring your own bottle no corkage fee, sounds pretty awesome to me. David our server was very attentive and took great care of us, which was the icing on the cake to an already spectacular night. I've been back for lunch a few times since, and I've had a great experience every time. If you're in Woodland Hills, give them a try

What everybody else said! We had the taquitos, mushroom soup, mixed green salad, I had the sea bass and my husband had the scampi. Bread pudding for dessert. Sauces on everything were perfection! Think we may of just found a new neighborhood gem!

I went to Angel City Cafe with 3 of my friends the other night and had a wonderful time. Sorry to those around us if our laughing was disturbing your dinner. The atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious - I got the sea bass which was so good. My friends enjoyed their dinners as well. Desserts were yummy too! The service was great! As soon as we sat down a very nice guy came over filled our waters, brought us bread and asked what we wanted to drink.... even though our whole party wasn't there...and he wasn't even the waiter!! LOVE when restaurants do that!! I always like getting my diet coke right away :) Our waiter was one of the best parts! His name was Elmer (how adorable is that?!) and he was the perfect blend of charming and helpful while never disrupting the flow of our conversation. Good stuff! I would definitely recommend Angel City. Oh, and parking was a breeze too!!

Angel City Cafe is my little secret in Woodland Hills. The fish is awesome, the steaks are awesome and the staff is like family. The prices seem really reasonable for the gourmet experience you receive. I have dinned there about 30 times now and have never been anything but pleased. My only concern is that this little gem is going to blow up soon and I won't be able to slip in and out as easily as I do now. Great job to Steve and Staff. You have a real hit on your hands.

  • Mitch B.

The food is excellent. We've been there several times and it's never been disappointing. On one occassion, they seemed slightly understaffed, but we still had a wonderful time. The staff are extremely nice and the prices are very fair. Potato Crusted Bass is fantastic as are the Appetizer Ahi Taquitos.

We go to Angel City Cafe at least once a week. My daughter 8, loves the shrimp scampi, my favorite is the tuna taquitos appetizer, YUMMY!! The sauce is incredible! My husband loves the seafood linguini with the spicy red sauce, crazy good! Don't even get me started on the desserts (mouth watering right now) Okay, going there tomorrow! See you there!!

Great service, great prices, excellent food, what more could you want? Their homemade bread was hot and fresh out of the oven. I was kinda bummed they don't serve alcohol BUT there's no corkage fee ;) Also don't get discouraged with the limited menu, you won't be disappointed with the food! Considering the price of the salads I wasn't expecting such a good sized salad to come out, and it was so yummy, practically licked my plate. I had the potato crusted sea bass, the lemon caper sauce over the potato crusted sea bass was delicious. I wasn't a fan of squash until I tried it here, they really cooked it to perfection, wasn't soggy or too crunchy. I didn't get a chance to try the chicken my bf ordered because I was too busy drooling over my plate but he said it was really really good. I had to try the bread pudding because of the reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype, try it! its worth the extra gym session I've already made plans to come back!!! btw i literally created a yelp acct just to write a review for this place I was so excited about it. Thanks ACC

My 2 friends and I went there for dinner last week. Neither of us had ever been, but my friend had recommended it as one of her friends had told her about it. I was quite skeptical about it but I was plesantly surprised. First off, the location was a bit hard to find because it was in a small mini-mall type of place on Ventura Blvd. The parking is in the back and there is plenty of parking, but if you dont know about it, you will probably try and park on Ventura Blvd at a parking meter which is fine as well. First things first-they dont serve alcohol. They might serve wine but I am not sure, however you can bring your own wine and they will cork it for you with NO CHARGE!!! I have not seen this anywhere! Needless to say we brought in 2 bottles of wine and they even put the white wine in an ice bucket for us. We got there kinda early for dinner, 5:30 and it was us and one other party. They seated us and brought out this amazing bread with this yummy dipping sauce (later I found out it was just their balasmic vinegrette dressing). The service was fantastic. They were so nice and so attentive. Better than honestly any restaurant I have been to. I started with a beet salad which was ok...it had 4 round large slices of beet but it also had some slices of tomato and then had a small tossed green salad with goat cheese on it next to the sliced beets and tomatoes. It was very large for a beet salad but it was not too tasty, just ok. My friend ordered the soup of the day which was a gumbo and she really really liked it. My other friend ordered the caprise salad (mozzerella and tomato) and she said it was ok as well and it was quite large. We then shared the ahi tuna taquitos. The taquitos were ok. They had tuna in them but since they deep fried the whole thing, the tuna was cooked so it was not that great...I expected it to be like a wonton with raw tuna but it was cooked and was covered in guacamole and this like creamy red sauce (the sauce was delicious but it was literally swimming in the sauce) and the order only came with 4 pieces (2 taquitos cut in half). By this time, we were pretty full but then dinner was on its way. One friend had ordered salmon that came with a mixed green salad and some lemon cream sauce and she liked it but said it was just plain. My other friend ordered the halibut that was crusted with something and she liked it and I think it had some potatoes or something on the side and I ordered the chicken and eggplant parmigana. My dish was ok. The chicken and eggplant were both baked and had some sauce and cheese on it. It came with nothing else, like no pasta or anything but it was ok. The eggplant could have been cooked a little bit longer but it was tasty. I would go there again but I would probably order a different dinner entree. Its cute in there too and I could totally see someone renting out the whole place for a private party. The prices were super decent too. I think each entree was around $15.

Had an amazing meal...the bread & dip are both so delicious! Absolutely loved my salmon dinner -- it was cooked perfectly! The bread pudding is divine! :) Our server, Kimberly, was awesome!

This place is a small, yet amazing restaurant. I passed it twice when I was trying to find it! The staff was very friendly. Best of all, the price was great, but the food was fantastic!!! Mention that u found them on yelp, and u get a free dessert!!! I will definately be a regular here! By the way, the shrimp scampi was excellent!

I came here for lunch today with my mom. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. You can make a reservation but it doesn't seem like it's necessary during the lunch hour. The servers were nice but it felt like it was very slow--- took a while to get our food (probably because there was only 1 cook there at the time)--- but once we got the food we were very pleased! I got the blackened chicken sandwich with mac n cheese and my mom got the tri tip sandwich with French fries. Both sandwiches were really tasty! I especially liked the bread they used on the sandwiches. The mac n cheese was good but nothing to write home about. The fries were good! This is a great option if you are dining in the valley, I would definitely come back again and I'm looking forward to trying out the dinner menu.

I live in Topanga, and this is one of my favorite restaurants. Friendly but not intrusive staff. Surprisingly good cuisine in a non pretentious and rlelaxed ambience. Quality of the dishes surpasses many of the more well known high end restaurants

Nice staff. Great food and prices. Enjoyed the potato crusted sea bass and they have daily specials menu-- wife had chicken parm and I almost ordered a steak. Portions can be big dependent on what you order. The place is kid friendly. The staff was really cool and had half portion of the shrimp scampi made. All up good food. Definitely coming back for brunch. I have been back several times and it it's consistently great.

You lead us astray yelp. Long story short: mediocre food at best (tri tip hash, pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs, lox, and a breakfast burrito). The service was slow, but to the waiter's credit he was the only one in the restaurant. Then, apparently they were 'filming' something there, so there were about 5 obnoxious people standing over our table and talking shop.

Best. Bread. Pudding. Ever. One. Hundred. Million. Calories. But each and every calorie is totally worth it. Bread pudding is not the only thing that makes my heart beat for this place. Angel City Café serves a great cause. They will be hosting a fundraising event on October 22 and donating 25% of all proceeds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Yes, agree, they do need a little reno, but I'm sure they'll get there as good deeds are always rewarded.

No liquor license? Can't even open your own bottle of wine? That coupled with very mediocre food makes for a very "meh" experience. There are better places to go along that strip of Ventura Blvd, avoid Angel City. That, combined with our waiter telling us that he never tasted this or that item but "sells a lot of them" makes for a mediocre eating experience. I have to say, I don't get how other places have rated this place highly -- maybe they don't get out much?? Chalk this one off your list.

We drove around a few times around the restaurant to find the parking space. There's a super narrow alley goes to Angel Cafe's parking lot, next to a big parking lot for BBQ place. You could miss that small one way entrance easily. We walked into the restaurant from the back door. It was loud and busy, though something tells me 'this is a good place for Saturday evening.' And that was true. Barbara, a super nice lady showed us the high table by the window. We had the best view of the street and inside. Cool! I ordered ahi tuna taquitos, they brought me chicken taquitos. It was good. Everyone's happy with the food. I didn't even complain about my ahi thing. Cappuccino at 7PM was not a bad idea. Most of all we all loved the warm bread with spread. Barbara came by again, and that's nice. Our server was a very friendly guy. Water guy and server were keep coming by, at one point we got 2 baskets of fresh warm bead! Definitely we want to go there again, and bring our own wine. Cool place on Ventura Blvd.

Been here about four or five times. Each time the food and service have been great! I've tried pasta, chicken, fish on various visits and none have disappointed. Most of the serving sizes are very plentiful and the prices are very reasonable. Staff working the restaurant are always friendly and attentive. Only drawback is no alcohol. Still, if you want a great meal, it's definitely worth a visit!

Bread Pudding. OK, I can say more, but the first thing I have to say - nay, scream - is TRY THE BREAD PUDDING. It's really out of this world. Two thick slices of bread, cooked in a custard and served with a white chocolate sauce and berries. OK, that's just a description, now go try it. Then see if you can get me the recipe. The rest of the food is also very good, and extremely reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. I tried both appetizers and they were definitely winners. The mixed green salad was great, and I really enjoyed the BBQ tri-tip (though not so much the sauce). Everyone at my table loved the sea bass, however, so I would try that first. If you are ready to have a heart attack, go for the pasta alfredo and order extra Parmesan. You'll die happy.

Decent food. They have no corkage which is enticing. 5 stars for service. 3.5 stars for food. 4 starts for value. Overall this place is okay. I come here now and again but but being on ventura and so many places it's hard to compete.

Came in here around 9:15pm, and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by this lady, and asked if we have any reservations. We said no, and she told us we can either sit in the back (in the high chairs) or outside the patio or it'll be like a 10 minute wait for a table. We looked around the place was maybe 30% full (PLENTY of EMPTY tables everywhere), and we asked why we couldn't get seated at one of the booths right away. Luckily, some other guy interjected and told us that we can sit at one of the empty booths. And the lady just scoffed. Really, lady???? Luckily, she wasn't our server. We had a very nice guy take our order. He was very nice and friendly. What we ordered: *Beet Salad (Special) - My boyfriend ordered this, and I wasn't really keen on trying Beet Salad. But I ended up trying it once it got to our table. The portion of the salad was huge and can easily be shared between two people. I ended up really like this. It was fresh and I definitely ate a good portion of this. I love the dressing and how it had feta cheese in it. The beets were very sweet and juicy. Highly recommended if it's available. *Cajun Clam Chowder - This was just a salty cup of mess. I liked the idea behind it, but we could barely eat it. It seemed like they just dumped a whole bag of cajun seasoning in it. Our server noticed that we didn't touch the soup so he gladly took it out of our bill (and we didn't even have to ask for him to take it out). *Ahi Tuna Taquitos - Be warned that their Ahi Tuna Taquitos are just two taquitos split in half. Regular places usually gives you four taquitos, but I guess since they're ahi tunas, you only get two. The lobster bisque sauce was great, but the guacamole didn't taste fresh at all. I love guacamole, and it's usually one of the first things to go for me, but for this dish, I barely touched it. *Pan-crusted Sea Bass with a bed of vegetables - The fish was very thin slab. I liked the crust and it had a good flavor to it with a nice crunch to it. The crust kinda stayed crispy the next day when I had my leftover for lunch. Overall, our experience was ok. Food was ok. The first person who greeted us just left such a pretentious memory of this place. Luckily, our server had great customer service. Maybe that lady should talk to him and learn a thing or two.

Very very salty. Adding salt is not cooking. Drank gallons of water for hours afterwards and my partner and I had acid stomach the rest of the day. My partner's burger was the saltiest thing I have tried to eat in years. This place is subject to yelp star inflation, which is starting to be a problem across the board in Yelp. There is NO way, based on the lunch I had this place deserves 4 stars. Come on people, 4 stars is meant to be something special, not just ok. Are we all actually eating at the same place?? Service was good our delightful waiter deserves somewhere better to work. By the way only four people in here on a lunchtime, not a good sign.

This really is a great find! Pumpkie mentioned this new place... there is literally just a banner covering part of the old "knob grill" sign. The outside definitely does not do this place justice. The inside is nicely decorated.. with faux finished walls? and lots of candles. It's also kind of dimly lit and it's rather nice. As one other yelper mentioned, the menu is rather small... but I'm sure there will be more stuff in the future. BUT... the food is goooood. Let's start with the bread. The bread is to die for! It's so good. It's somewhat sweet... kind of like a mexican botillo roll... but so fresh, warm and soft. Amazingly tasty! Now the balsamic dip is amazing! I loved it! Sooooo good! My mouth is watering thinking of it right now actually. Yum! Moving on... We started with the shrimp scampi appetizer. It was delish! The shrimp were tasty..and the the garlic butter lemon-y sauce was good! The potato straws were also a nice touch...and added a lot of crunch to the food. :) I had the rosemary chicken with forest mushroom sauce. Anything entitled "forest mushroom" by the way draws me in right away. I like to live in that fairytale world in my head...and eating something entitled "forest mushroom" just further cements this in my head. hahaha! Anyway, the chicken was incredibly moist and juicy. The mushrooms were also really tasty! :) Pumpkers had the salmon which looked like a lemon garlic sauce with tons of my friends, the caper. :) I teased him about not eating them all...to which he scooped them all up and gobbled them down. I am sure that was a salty bite. hahaha! The fingerling potatoes were also very tasty. Cooked well and seasoned perfectly. Yum! :) The only thing I didn't like was the squash and zucchini, but in all fairness, I hate squash and zucchini... they did look tasty.. but I just don't like those particular veggies. I would have liked to have something else. Also, it's pretty affordable for how good the food is... which is always a good thing! It was amazingly tasty and it's local... so I'm sure I'll be back. I especially want to try out their parm next time too. :)

I really wanted to like this place so much but I just didn't love. The food was really greasy and I am not opposed to fatty foods but their foods seemed to not have a good balance. Some of the food was over salted and seemed to have too many flavors. Based on the reviews and some pics, I thought it would be a bit more upscale but it was very casual and really family oriented. It could have just been an off night but there were 2 really large parties with several young children who just ran amuck. Negative! Wish I could give it another try but honestly, I probably won't. But overall, I am happy there's another eatery in the hood that appeals to most!

The boyfriend took me here for a "monthaversary" (silly notion, really) dinner. We got the appetizer rolls. The sauce was AMAZING. I think it was lobster-based. Mmm. I ordered the tri tip, and the boyfriend got the potato-crusted sea bass. I wanted my meat medium rare, but it came out more medium. Not a big deal. The bass was so tender, it melted in my mouth. So good. For dessert, we got the creme brulee, which was also tasty. It wasn't too sweet, which I really appreciated. Our server, David, was VERY fond of saying, "You got it!" to everything we (and other customers) said. It was a little bit annoying, but I took it in good fun and just thought of Michelle Tanner. "You got it, dude!"

My wife and I went for lunch. The lunch menu prices are the same price as the regular menu if not higher. The gumbo soup I ordered for a starter was okay, nothing memorable. I ordered a tri tip salad and she ordered a tri tip sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. As she said, "it was just meat between bread. No sauces, no flavors." The mac and cheese was very good. It was creamy and the cheese was definitely there. My salad was not what I pictured. The bbq ranch dressing was not noticeable. It didnt taste like ranch or bbq. The corn that came with it was canned. It didnt have a fresh yellow color that you come to expect from quality food. The meat didnt have any seasoning other than salt. Overall, i felt cheated out of a good salad. Service was decent. The complimentary bread did not come until after the food was served. The waiter said it was baked fresh which was true. It was soft, warm, and buttery. The host and waiter were nice and respectful. Overall, a 3 star was given because the mac and cheese tasted good. Otherwise, it would have been a two star. Did I finish my food? Yes, I was hungry. Would I eat here again? Sadly, no. For the price, there is flavor to be had elsewhere.

Great food, great service. We had relatives visiting from out of state and wanted to give them a good California experience. They loved it and the waiter was nice enough to take a photo with my younger cousin who has a collection of photos with waiters from her trips. I ordered a beet salad and a sea food risotto special. Some ordered steak and shrimp scampi. I didn't like the shrimp scampi, and beware, the tortilla soup is vegan so doesn't taste like normal tortilla soup. Otherwise, all good.

My girl and I decided to have a date night (dinner/movie) and this place was close to the AMC movie theater in Woodland Hills so we stopped by. Once we got there the hostess seated us and we were introduced to our waiter Elmer who was hilarious!! He had us laughing the whole time and gave my girl some great recommendations because she couldn't decide on ANYTHING!! As her and Elmer were going over the menu I noticed a guy walk in with his lady and a bottle of wine like a G! So I was trying to figure out why he wasn't trying to hide the bottle or anything. After my girl finished ordering I told her that this guy brought a bottle in and they didn't even trip on him so she quickly hopped on yelp and said, "BABE NO CORKAGE FEE!!!" She jumped up, said she would be back and walked down the street to the liquor store. She came back with a bottle of Mascoto and we got busy! I ordered the ahi tuna taquitos which were pretty good (they had a little too much avocado) and the seafood linguini plate which was perfect. The "no corkage fee" and liquor store a few doors down make this place a hidden gem and a perfect place for a date night! OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

Linguini with seafood is the best I have ever had in any restaurant. No corkage fee is the best deal in the valley. Going to make this place on my favorite list.

My dinner partner and I arrived at the restaurant at about 5:00 PM. We are the only diners. Like 1 reviewer stated, they don't serve alcohol (yet there was a wine glass rack which led me to believe they lost or can't get a license) so for a beverage I ordered a lemonade which tasted like water. My dinner partner had a Diet Coke that had something black in it and it was flat so we basically drink water. We were provided with some bread and a garlic/vinegar/olive oil dip. That was very good. The dinner menu was sparse so we ordered the Chicken Pasta Alfredo and the Shrimp Scampi, which were the best part of the meal. They were flavorful. The scampi was loaded with garlic, which I love. At the end of the meal the waiter asked us if we wanted dessert. We said yes and asked for the menu so we could make a choice. When he returned with the menu, he informed us that the only desserts they had available was the white chocolate bread pudding and the homemade ice cream which was either vanilla bean, chocolate, cappuccino crunch and some assorted sorbets. Mind you it was only a little after 6:00 PM. We ordered the bread pudding. Yes, it was good but not the greatest ever. Our bill came out to a little over $40. So in a nutshell, the food arrived timely, the food was decent, the service was fine, the location was clean, but I don't think I would go back. I donno, there was just something off about that place. Oh and as for the parking in back, it kinda tricky. The way to find it is when you turn off of Ventura Blvd there's a really skinny alleyway turn inside there and you'll get into the parking lot.

  • Nicole U.

A complete surprise right here on Ventura Blvd. From the outside I was a little hesitant, this is a new restaurant that is still trying to find their place. There is a beautiful patio area with ample seating and on a cool night I could see this being a great place to sit and enjoy the scenery. Once inside you realize just how big this location really is. Tons of tables and booths all topped with beautiful white table clothes, white always makes a restaurant look so classy. Our hostess was friendly and found us a good spot in front of a gigantic window facing the boulevard. Our server came over and got us started right away with drinks, I was temped by the mexican coke. I can never turn that option down. He also brought us over a basket filled with freshly baked bread and a fantastic dipping sauced loaded with fresh herbs. The bread was damn good. We talked about it throughout the meal because it was that good. After asking for suggestions we started with the Ahi taquitos that were slathered in a lobster sauce and fresh guacamole. These little taquitos were amazing. Freshly fried to a golden crisp and filled with meaty Ahi. I dragged them through the lobster sauce which was rich and buttery and then spooned on some guacamole. This is a dish you should try. Next up came the potato crusted sea bass with a lemon butter caper sauce and fresh zucchini on the side. Everything on this plate was perfect. The potato crust was flavorful and crisp and the caper sauce was a perfect compliment to the fish. My boyfriend had the Bbq'd tri tip served with the sauce on the side and a pile of hand cut fries. He really enjoyed his plate. We finished up with bread pudding topped with a a vanilla blueberry sauce. AMAZING! Unfortunately I was very full by this point but I kept going. Bottom line is that we had a great dinning experience. Prices are extremely low, you could have a date night for two and not break $30. Also there is no corkage fee so feel free to bring some wine.

I came to Woodland Hills for work, rather than pleasure. When I had finished up with my responsibilities, it was already 2pm, and I haven't had lunch yet. I was scoping out yelp to find some decently priced places and encountered this place. I was starving at this point and was 35 miles away from where I need to be. Checked my Google Maps, an hour and half to get back, because of traffic. So I thought, I might as well sit down and eat while I wait for traffic to die down. First, parking, parking was confusing. They have meters in the front, but I didn't want to use the meters. They had a sign that said parking in the back of the restaurant, so I went ahead and went around to the back, but it was weird. The entrance to the parking lot seemed like there was only enough space to leave and all the cars were parked opposite of my direction. Maybe I was just confused and didn't realized how the parking work. Anyway, I decided to avoid the hassle and parked on the street in front of an elderly community. There was a nice tree with a lot of shade, perfect for that hot summer weather. I walked into Angel's cafe and noticed how nice everything was. It had this warm feeling of embrace, that it was welcoming. The waiter asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside. The inside had air conditioning, so it was a no brainer. I could see the outside being very nice though at night. The place was pretty much empty, except for myself, and two other patrons. The ambiance was nice and quaint. I'm not sure how it would have been if it was packed. At that moment, it was peaceful. The waiter was very helpful and attentive, not sure if it would be the same if it was packed. You could see the kitchen, which was nice. The waiter brought out bread and some type of dipping sauce. I didn't ask what it was, but i enjoyed it thoroughly. I realized they didn't have any alcoholic drinks on the menu, but they informed me, we could bring our own? Weird, never been to a byob/w/l restaurant before, but I like the idea. They said they don't charge for uncorking. I ended up ordering a sprite and seafood linguini. When the entree came out, it looked delicious. I had to dive in mouth first, not literally, of course. It was really good. I could taste the flavor and seasoning on my palate. There was a dash of maybe thyme, or mint, or maybe parsley, wasn't sure, but it complimented the ingredients very well. The only thing I didn't like was the fish, it was a little dry. I think it was salmon. I still finished it anyways. I don't like to waste food.

I went out for dinner here on a Friday night, and was pleased with the experience. The ahi taquitos were a tasty appetizer with the perfect Cajun kick. We had the grilled salmon salad and blackened chicken salad respectively, and followed up with bread pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious and service was great. We will definitely be back.

I want to rate this restaurant between a 2.5 and 3 stars. The food is good, for the price. If the prices weren't so reasonable, I don't think this restaurant would be getting such high star reviews. We started off with the ahi tuna taquitos with lobster butter sauce. They sounded incredible so we had to try them. They were just ok. Not as much flavor as you would expect in such a decadent dish. We also shared a half size spinach salad. It was also just ok. Not much dressing and we asked for the onions on the side and that did not happen. My boyfriend had the tri tip with French fries. Once again, for the price it was ok/good. Nothing special. I had one of their specials, scallops and risotto. Scallops were cooked well and it came with 5. Risotto was not cooked correctly but the flavors were good. This was priced at $28 which is on the higher side compared to the rest of the dishes on the menu. To end this review, the service was less than mediocre. We asked for things more than once like more bread, or water, or onions on the side and none of those things were done. Out waitress wasn't attentive or very friendly. She was not rude in any sense but there was no real attention given to our table. I was excited to try this restaurant because of all the great reviews, but I wasn't impressed.

This place is open late which is nice; The fetuccine alfredo was memorable enough that many months later I can recall its unique taste. Very creamy, but still a very solid dish. Me and my Lady came here late, after perusing yelp, and were left happy, but have not yet returned. I do not know whether that is due to our lack of need for late night restaurants lately, or just not being in the area, but I do plan on returning here soon for another dish. Staff was very courteous and polite, and it has a nice upscale feel even though the air of the employees' attitude is very lighthearted, yet professional.

First impression, very good- amazing bread and soup. I ordered the eggplant and chicken Parmesan- only problem was it was way too salty. My boyfriend ordered the flank stank special- seasoned well but slightly overlooked. No alcohol served- it's byob! I likes the waiter and service, and ambiance.

Love this position. Staff is efficient and personable. Meals rocks. Prices are obscene, I suppose like i'm stealing from them. They could elevate their costs somewhat and it might still be a discount. I really like the Ahi Taquito, Sea Bass, Salads, Shoestring french fries, dwelling made bread & Balsamic spread are so yummy. The only bad is the menu is restricted, confidently Chef will begin having some "daily specials" to convey some style to the menu. The sauces are great! Desserts are excellent too,I adored the bread pudding. Pay them a seek advice from, I promise you are going to be again. Oh, I forgot, no liquor license, however you could BYOB, no corkage fee.

I really really want to love this place, but I've been let down twice :( They have a great outdoor patio which is really nice and not super common in the valley. They also serve brunch on the weekends and are always BYOB!! The brunch prices are very reasonable and I have been planning to round up a group for a BYOB brunch! How amazing would it be to bring your own champagne to brunch and skip the typical expensive bottomless mimosa prices?? I've had lunch and brunch here. For lunch I ordered the Blackened Chicken Sandwich with Baked Mac & Cheese for my side. I asked for a salad instead but the waitress said they only offer chips, french fries or the mac & cheese for sides. My lunch was incredibly heavy. The sandwich was DRIPPING in oil and the mac & cheese was overflowing with cheese. I was only able to eat a few bites before feeling stuffed and sick of the food. The flavors weren't awful just super greasy. For breakfast I ordered the tri-tip hash. It's tri-tip sauteed with onions and potatoes in a honey habanero sauce and topped with one egg (which I ordered over-easy). Again, it was super oily. I understand this dish is meant to be hearty and sauteed on a skillet but it does not need be so greasy! I may return and try something different just so I can take advantage of the BYOB policy and outdoor patio, but I will be staying away from the greasy/oily plates I've already tried.

I love this place! The quality, the service and the price cannot be beat. We live just around the corner so we eat here pretty often. I usually order either the salmon salad or the grilled salmon entree, and the salmon is always perfectly cooked. I've also tried the mushroom soup, french fries, steak and butter pasta (what my kid orders) and it's all very well done. NO CORKAGE! Because they don't serve alcohol! So bring your own or stop the liqour store or Trader Joe's that are both across the street and enjoy a glass of wine with an excellent meal. Service is always nice too.

All the food is prepared with love and tastes that way. It has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant with city taste. They have a covered outdoor patio in front of the restaurant as well which is nice. We have never been disappointed, the champagne mushroom soup is simply delicious and so is the beet salad, two of the many items to choose from on the menu. We highly recommend the Angel City Cafe, Steve the owner is also present and attentive to any particular needs you might have and the one behind the busy stove!

Thanks to fellow yelpers, we tried Angel City Cafe on a Wednesday for lunch. Had the soup of the day, along with the BBQ salad and chicken sandwich. All very good and seasoned really well. Service was friendly and very helpful.

This place is fantastic. They're not trying to be anything other than a place to go for consistently good food. The menu demonstrates this by have a select amount of dishes that are all fantastic. The ingredients are always fresh and savory. I personally admire the trip tip. It's rare to see on a menu unless you're at a BBQ place. This place is clean, super friendly and gives you that family feel during the entire experience. My advice to you, drop by trader joes or the liquor store down the street and pick up you favorite bottle of wine. There's no corking fee here. Oh. And one last thing... Save room for dessert.

I came here on a Friday night at around 9pm because I hadn't eaten dinner after a very long Black Friday shopping day. It was the only place that had 4 or more stars around Woodland Hills that was still open. I've been wanting to try this place because of the high reviews. The place was empty (probably because it was 9pm), except for a young couple that was there on what looked like a first date. It was actually a really nice place to take a date, if you want a casual, yet European vibe. It was bright and open which made it feel like an outdoor Italian cafe. Our waiter gave us a basket of bread and a dip for the bread. Our waiter called it a special house dip, but come on, let's be real... it was totally balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was still good, but I think I would have preferred soft whipped butter with that bread. The bread had a nice crust on the outside, soft on the inside, and had a little sweetness to it. The best part was that it was fresh out of the oven! To start, my bf and I had the ahi tuna taquitos. It was crunchy and delicious with the sauce and guacamole it came with. The sauce on its own was just ok, but paired with the guacamole and the taquito, it was amazing. It was the perfect appetizer -- 4 pieces and tons of sauce. I started dipping my bread in it, there was so much sauce! We couldn't figure out what was in that sauce, but it was delish! My bf ordered the sea bass and I had a bowl of cajun clam chowder. The sea bass was perfectly cooked. It came with capers, fall vegetables and some kind of lemon sauce and it was lightly breaded. It was also very cheap for the quality and quantity of food. It could've easily been a $20+ plate at some places, but it was less than $15. My cajun clam chowder was good. I think it might have been a little too salty for my taste though. I cut down the saltiness with the rest of the bread. I took it to go to add more heavy cream or something because it was still good, I just have to make it less salty. The piece de resistance though had to be the white chocolate bread pudding with the blueberry compote. OHHH MMMMYYYY GOD... that is the one single thing I would come here for over and over and over again. Thank goodness I just work down the street. It wasn't too sweet because the blueberry gave it a little tartness and the white chocolate was really subtle. I definitely recommend you to try this place. Don't let the prices fool you. It may be inexpensive, but the quality is superb. If you don't come here for the entrees, at least come for the white chocolate bread pudding and the ambiance! Parking: There's a parking lot in the back, but there's also metered street parking.

This place is one of the best kept secrets in the Valley. Get the secret out! The menu is small, but I can eat ANYTHING on it. They are priced VERY fairly and they not only give you enough food, they give you GREAT food. Really, check this place out. It's worth the dinner!

#realtimereviews So far so good; the greeter, who isn't my server, was prompt, friendly, and even caught himself as he was going to offer water, instead simply asking if there's something I'd like to get started with right-away. Paul came out, who seems to be the owner, was super-chill, took my order, asked if I'd like some bread, the awesomeness continues... The bread arrives, is warm, soft, and tasty; then there's a little surprise, with some kind of Italian dressing spread... Love. By the way, the water tastes clean and fresh without needing a lemon; which, is a little thing, but I appreciate any restaurant that doesn't bring me gross-tasting tap water. My entree arrives, hot, smells great, nice presentation; I'm happy. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I ordered the Potato-crusted sea bass with lemon-butter sauce, capers, and seasonal vegetables. I loved my experience, only paid $20, including the 25% tip I left. They are still waiting for their liquor license; and when they get that, I surely hope they have a bottomless mimosa brunch and I'll be here rather often.

We have been here 3 times and loved it every time. I took my mom here for dinner and she loved the potato crusted sea bass. They also have delicious bread. Our waiter was super friendly. I think it was probably the friendliest staff of any restaurant I have ever been to. The prices are also very reasonable. I will definitely go back. I went back again and had the same server (Mark). He really is one of the friendliest servers I have ever had. We again had the delicious sea bass and the chopped salad was also excellent. They serve a cute little loaf of warm bread with a delicious dipping sauce. They also have a parking lot in the back that most people aren't aware of. There are also handicap spaces which is great for my mom. I didn't even ask about the parking, they told me to use it last time we were there. They don't have their liquor license yet. They said they should have a beer and wine license soon. It is really a great place to take older people to dinner. It was so easy and delicious.

Service was attentive and food was good. We had the potato crusted sea bass and the seafood pasta ...really good. The beet salad was large enough to split. The chopped salad was over chopped and a little mushy in my opinion but had good flavor , the balsamic, garlic dipping sauce for the bread was delicious! The fact that you can bring your own wine and there is no corking fee is a plus plus. Would be great for a party or shower too! Will definitely go back!

I went here with my mom for lunch. We ordered way too much food but it was soo good we didn't care! It was pretty empty in there and it was a Saturday. I am sure that it gets much busier at dinner time. I am also pretty sure that our wait person was one of the actual owners of the restaurant. I ordered a cappuccino as my drink and it was served with two homemade delicious mandel bread/biscotti cookies. They were so good, some of the best I have ever had. I believe one of the owner's mother makes them. We started with the Ahi Tuna Taquitos. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, pass these up. You really will be sorry if you do not order these. These are served hot in a cajun lobster butter sauce with guacamole in the middle to dip in. The lobster butter is amazing. It really makes the dish. We saved it to dip the fresh baked bread in that they bring to your table fresh out of the oven. It is a tiny bit spicy, but the guacamole in the center balances that out perfectly. Next we got the Beet Salad. This salad is not for the faint of heart. It is a large hearty salad. There were 3 or 4 different types of beets in this salad. It is very filling but oh so good. The goat cheese and light dressing finish it up nicely. For our entree we got the Potato Crusted Sea Bass it is served with seasonal vegetables in a lemon caper sauce. This was very good. Personally I thought a little more sauce could have been better, and I am sure if I asked for some we would have been provided it. But I was so full it was hard to keep eating! We didn't make it to dessert, but their dessert menu looks absolutely delicious. I want to go back JUST for dessert one day. I will go back for the food of course but I can't eat that much!

Bread pudding!! More like the only thing to get my girlfriend to calm down sometimes!! Possibly the greatest food , deserts , and let's not overlook Steve and everyone there. By far the best restaurant experience. You feel as if they were waiting for you and your guests the whole evening. If you find yourself asking everyday "what do I want to eat", question answered. Food made by The Angels themselves

What a great place! Can't believe I have never been here as its right down the street from my husbands place. The staff there is so nice and the food was so great. The prices were great too and soon they will have a beer and wine license so don't know if the prices will go up a bit but looking forward to going back. My potato encrusted sea bass was so amazing. Technically I would say 4 and a half stars.

Went there for lunch on a Friday. There was only one server, and he was very slow, even though there were very few patrons. Chatted with someone for five minutes while our food sat on the counter waiting to be served. The worst part was I got food poisoning from the mushroom soup (100% that was what it was from) and was sick all weekend. When my husband called to let them know, the person who answered the phone was very hateful and rude and tried to make him feel very stupid.

The ahi tuna taquitos in spicy guacamole lobster sauce is a must have appetizer! Absolutely perfect! The bread is good and the balsamic dipping sauce is even better! We ordered the crab ravioli in lobster sauce special entree and the portion size was generous and the ravioli was fantastic. Fresh, homemade, loads of crab in a wonderfully rich lobster sauce. Just delicious! We also had the potato encrusted sea bass which was serves on a bed of roasted vegetables in a lemon-caper sauce. Again, a very generous portion and absolutely delicious!! We didn't leave room for dessert but hear that their bread pudding is to die for. We'll try it next time. The wait staff was sharp, friendly, efficient - all in all a great experience!! Highly recommended!!

Went there today just as we had a year ago. I'd say about 1/3 of the tables were taken. There was only one server, who we believe is the owner. He was incredibly careless and slow. We sat on the patio and asked him to raise the wall covers as it was incredibly stuffy. He said he was busy. About 10 minutes later he offered to do it. While doing so, he fell onto our table and spilled my dad's drink on my dad. The waiter didn't even apologize or bring my dad a replacement drink or extra napkins. We tried ordering several items on the menu, but we're told they were not available. We ordered the potato crusted Seabass-it had a hair in it. It just isn't the restaurant it used to be.

I absolutely LOVE this place! The food: remarkable quality and tastes fantastic. Generous portions and fresh baked bread at the table. Their tri tip is better than most of the bbq places around. Their lunch specials are fantastic! Most things in the $8.95 range and you get a HUGE portion and it's delicious. I don't understand why this place isn't packed all the time. The service is friendly and accommodating, and everything is always clean. I don't know why anyone would eat anywhere else in woodland hills. Come eat here. Ittl be your new favorite. 5 stars.

If you get stuck on the 101 and you're within hollering distance of Woodland Hills, you have to check out Angel City Cafe. No wine or beer on the menu, but you can bring your own. No corkage fee!! Not kidding. And there is a Trader Joes across the street for you procrastinators. I had the crusted sea bass which is a must-have! If you don't like fish, develop your palate. You'll thank me later. Ambience is good. Great date place. Hopefully their crowd will pick up. Thanks, Steve!!

Pros: - all-around solid food; we liked every one of the 8 dishes we ordered - sea bass (a bit too crusty for my taste, but the fish was good) - gumbo (thick, creamy, stew-like soup with a lot of meat) - creme brulee (smooth creme, thick sugar crust) - whipped cream on all the desserts tastes so fresh and house-made - ultra friendly server! - plentiful seating and heated outdoor patio Cons: - bread pudding was meh - seafood linguini was VERY fishy-- tasted like swimming in the ocean - limited menu options - no non-salad vegetarian options Bottom line: I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, especially upon seeing the decor and emptiness of the restaurant. My entire family really enjoyed the food and I will definitely be returning. This is a great place for families, groups, and birthday dinners.

Great food, good-sized portions. Came here with friends and we had trouble choosing from the awesome menu, so we shared 4 dishes - sea bass, beet salad, tri tip salad, and grilled chicken. The service was attentive and everything was perfect. We were so full we never got to dessert... next time. :)

Checked reviews before coming here so saw what most ate and reviewed...we ordered the ahi tuna taquitos and the beet salad and the potato crusted sea bass! Everything was as reviewed! Amazing! So much flavor for each dish and the beet salad was so colorful! Def not disappointed! However the only reason I gave 4 stars was I had called earlier today and asked if they allow us to bring our own wine but he said they didn't have an alcohol license! Besides that I think the guy who served us was the owner or manager but he was super nice and friendly! I really felt like I was at my uncles house eating homemade food! Very friendly atmosphere cute decor!

Absolutely delightful experience. Must get the Pomme frites and prawns. Excellent, EXCELLENT appetizer. Also for desert the creme brûlée is out of this world. Will return many more times. Can't wait to show this hidden gem to my friends and family. The ambiance is so relaxing, lovely soft jazz music and great soft lighting. Paul is so sweet and accommodating. His humor and kind demeanor is half the reason we had such a great time. Come and enjoy, you won't regret it. Can't wait to return.

Well, I was quite surprised to learn that I had never written a review for Angel City Café back when I first came here in September 2013. I really enjoyed it, and thought it was a minimum of 4.5 stars, if not 5 that night. I got their potato crusted sea bass, and it was every bit as good as other Yelpers had said. I wanted to come back with my husband (was with a friend back then). As for the review, it must've gotten lost in the shuffle of my NYC trip and all the fun places we went to there, but I digress. Here's the thing...... this past Friday when I returned with my husband, I am sorry to say they've been knocked to 4 stars. That's not bad, of course, but some things hit me wrong that removed any ideas of awarding 5. We walked in, both nicely dressed from work, WITH a reservation and lots of empty tables. The waitress proceeded to seat us in a small, sequestered area with high tables and high up chairs to match......the kind where your legs never quite fit where the foot rest is, and it's just really uncomfortable. Why, I ask, did she have to seat us THERE? We could have had any choice of table with as many that were available, the normal height table with normal chairs where your feet touch the ground, but no, she chose to put us, almost like she was hiding us......there. I asked to be moved, and she actually hesitated as if it was ruining her plan. She did move us to a table right by the kitchen.....where (possibly the owner) was standing. I really didn't want to have anyone watching me the entire time, but this was better than sitting off in the corner in the high chairs, too. I don't know, it just was weird, and it upset me. My husband was in the men's room for all this....... if he had seen how this went down, he would have been PISSED. Okay, fine, we're seated, and I'm just thinking back to the food and how it's going to be so yummy. The same lady who seated us then brought our drinks.......iced tea. One problem..... NO ice. Okay, now I'm really upset... where is the ice in the iced tea? This is just a small issue, I grant you, but don't bring me an iced tea WITHOUT ice.....especially after the seating issue. Enter the waiter. David. David saved the day. Thank goodness HE was our waiter and not that idiot female whoever she was. David was sweet, charming, and quite helpful. He made it possible for us to thoroughly enjoy the rest of our time there, and he took good care of us, offering recommendations and keeping tabs on our dining needs/wants. Thanks to David, we enjoyed the following....... Soft, warm, bread served with a balsamic sauce of some kind...... quite unique and yummy !! Caesar Salad - you know what that is Angel City Café Chopped Salad, which was comprised of Genoa salami, provolone, parmesan, checca (tomatoes seasoned with basil and garlic), and avocado in a Caesar dressing Grilled Tri-Tip served w/ BBQ sauce and French fries Grilled Rosemary Chicken, served with Fingerling potatoes and choice of sauce: Forest mushroom or lemon-butter with capers, but because of David, he brought me BOTH !! I really enjoyed what I had .... the chopped salad and the rosemary chicken dish. Everything was super delicious, and I had fun dipping the chicken in both sauces.... I really liked the mushroom sauce, but the lemon caper sauce won out. That was my fave. I do have one criticism, however. The chicken dish, as tasty as it was, had too much salt.....even beyond the capers. I could taste it throughout the chicken, the sauces, potatoes and even the veggies, and the proof was in how thirsty I was the remainder of the evening. While I love lots of flavor, I am an advocate of using other spices and/or herbs to get there in addition to only moderate amounts of salt.......but it could have been just the night we went because I don't recall the potato crusted sea bass or its accompaniments that night being anywhere near as salty. Well, I had my complaints for this evening, to be sure, but I still think it deserves 4 stars here, and I enjoyed the food enough to warrant yet another return visit.....and my hubby feels quite the same.

3.5 stars. Came here with the cousins for dinner after work. Waiter was awesome. I keep forgetting they are closed on mondays. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi served with linguini. It was good. my cousin ordered Potato crusted sea bass w/lemon-butter sauce with capers. It was all potato and crust and barely any fish. Had it had more fish it would of been perfect, sauce and flavor were on point. my other cousin ordered Lamb shank w/ vegetable medley and scalloped sweet potatoes. I've have better. They don't serve wine. We were seriously debating walking down the street to the liquor store. As for dessert they are known for their bread pudding. Nothing memorable. We also had coffee ice cream w/homemade biscotti.

The waiter we had was good and was very enthisaitc, however the food did not appear fresh. The bread dipping sauce, which tasted like salad dressing, was in a saucer dish still frosty from the fridge it was just pulled from and the vegetables were soggy. The potato crusted sea bass was good. However, being that it was a weekend, during dinner service, and few people were eating makes me question the turn over of fresh ingredients. I wonder why my experience was so different than the review of others.

This is a very belated review from January. The service was fabulous at this "business casual" establishment and we got a table by the window! This place would get an extra star if it had a liquor license! I was dying for a glass of wine with my meal! The Ahi tuna taquitos for interesting but still tasty. I had the sea bass which was very buttery and good. A jewel in the valley!

So, this place doesn't seem like much. In fact, it's been there for years and I've never noticed it. So here's how the story goes: Once upon a time, I had a reservation at The Prime Rib on a Friday night, but was too lazy to dress up and drive over the hill to get there. Yet, I still wanted something new and different. So I Yelped for a few minutes when I noticed that Angel City Cafe had really great reviews! In accordance to many reviewers, I called ahead and asked if they were busy. He said yes, but said if I could get there in 15 minutes he would hold a table for me. So I pulled on a hoodie, dragged the boyfriend into the car, and away we went. (This took 15 minutes longer than I thought it would.) So... 30 minutes later we arrive. The hostess was frosty and annoyed that I didn't have a reservation, but the owner let me sit down anyways despite the fact that the place was insanely crowded (I guess he's the one I talked to on the phone!). One thing - bring your own wine. I was sad that me and the boyfriend didn't bring our own as they don't serve any alcohol there. Many of the patrons there knew and were chillin' with several bottles of wine at their table. We stared enviously at their wine and vowed that the next time we visited we would bring our own wine. So we ordered: Cajun Clam Chowder, Ahi Tuna Taquitos, Seafood Linguini, BBQ Shrimp with Mashed Potatoes, and the Bread Pudding. Uh, let me just say that the Seafood Linguini was some of the best I've had. The food was amazing. If you go there, order the Ahi Tuna Taquitos, the Seafood Linguini, and the bread pudding! You won't regret it. Seriously. Everything else was really good too, but they didn't EXPLODE in my mouth like those things I mentioned. Oh yeah, and before I forget? Their bread is the business. It's soft, chewy, and practically melts in your mouth. Mmmmmm.... Oh and if the story doesn't get better, the owner comped our Appetizer and Dessert because he said he was sorry we had to wait so long for our food. (Shhh... don't tell him, but we were so engrossed in our bread we didn't notice the wait. Seriously.) And that's it. We went home and lived happily ever after in a blissful food coma. The End!

This is a review for the catering service. When my friend invited me to her party and said there would be a "taco bar," well, I was expecting a basic tortilla, meat/chicken, rice, cheese, chips and salsa/guac spread. Which is nice. Well, this was a whole other level. In addition to the basics, there were enchiladas, two types of salad (Caesar and bean/cheese/tortilla chip), as well as shrimp and lobster (!) taco filling. The servers were awesome. They were easy to spot but not intrusive. I turned away for a minute, looked back and someone had picked up my dirty dish. Helpful and pleasant but not on top of you. Angel City Café catering made a great day even better.

We had heard that they had exquisite bread pudding. They do. We showed up at 9:30 PM, just wanting two puddings and four glasses of water. Real cheapskates, aren't we? We were welcomed as if we were big spenders, treated like we were best customers and greeted with smiles all the way around. Our server, Rachel, was a sweetheart. Very sweet disposition, keen sense of humor and an eagerness to take care of us that was very refreshing. It is obvious that this is a relatively new enterprise at this location, but I just hope that they make a success of it, I'd like to visit them again when I return to California next year. We did ask about a corkage fee, they don't have one, which is nice, as they do not appear to have a liquor or wine license yet.

Possibly the best new choice in Woodland Hills. A smaller menu but everything on it is exceptional. Try the Seabass, the mushroom soup, and the house salad. The prices are soo reasonable! They don't have liquor, so pick up a nice bottle of wine down the street and settle in with your loved one for a perfect dinner. The tri-tip is also good with their homemade bbq sauce to dip your fries in.

I came here with my family tonight for the first time and we were impressed! For appetizers: The ahi tuna appetizer was delish and the Cajun clam chowder was out of this world. For dinner, I would definitely recommend the potato crusted sea bass. It was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. I had the new York steak and it was amazing, and my brother got the rosemary garlic chicken with lemon butter sauce that was soooo good. For dessert, we ordered the bread pudding which was the only item that was not my favorite, but still good. Overall, all dishes were seasoned well and my steak was cooked perfectly. The best part of the night was the bill! It was very reasonably priced for the portions and quality of food. Would definitely recommend this place :) Oh and lastly, the staff were very friendly and service was great!

This was my first time at Angel City Cafe. I thought it was a great little restaurant with an interesting menu. The specials of the day all sounded great. That being said, I would point out something to the waiters. It is not appealing, and actually unhygienic to be carrying the pepper grinder under your armpit! I actually witnessed more than one waiter doing this. Please, if you can't carry it normally come back a second time. The pepper mill is not meant to be carried in your armpit!

I've been reading great reviews about this place for some time. After perusing the menu every time I search for a restaurant in Woodland Hills, a friend and I finally took the leap and decided to try it. We immediately recognized the location as the OOOOOLLLDDD Italian restaurant, Ritrovo. The wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. They were courteous and delivered quickly when called over. However, for some reason, they don't frequent the table on a regular basis. It's a weird phenomenon, they look busy, they seem busy but they come at the wrong times, they revisit just after we've been served and have already asked for whatever accouterments we may have wanted, we're set for a good 10-15 minutes, we might need more to drink at that point. What actually happened was they didn't come back for 15-20 minutes and we had to call them over even though it wasn't busy (there were 3 other parties of 2 in the whole restaurant). Anyhow, on to the food. The bread was nice and warm and quite tasty. I'm not sure that it was "fresh" baked within the hour but definitely made that day and re-warmed. We both ordered soup, me the shrimp Etouffee and my friend the tortilla soup. They both smelled delicious. The "cups" were actually very nice sized bowls. The Etouffee was full of bay shrimp, andouille and all the cajun spices but it was a little bland. The tortilla soup was a puree and had a nice smoky essence. For me, it would have been a little more pleasurable if it had been slightly creamy or possibly accompanied by some cheese. For the main course, I ordered the famous potato crusted sea bass and my friend the ceasar salad. I was most impressed with the freshness of the sea bass. The potato crust was nice and crunchy. The way they sat it up on top of the roasted zuchinni, squash and onions kept the crispy, crunchy coat perfect. However, once again, a little bland. the lemon caper cream sauce was tasty but needed a little more. The ceasar salad was a salad and again, a little bland, seems as though there were not enough or no anchovies (most restaurants don't. however, based on the sophistication of the menu this is what I assumed). Also, the parmesean wasn't fresh, shaved parmesean it was pre-grated off the shelf.. The white chocolate bread pudding was good. We ordered it on the high recommendation of our waiter Gus. I'm not sure about BEST in all of the San Fernando Valley, but good. Again, it seemed like it would be GREAT just out of the oven. I feel like it was warmed up and served. I started with 2 stars but have decided on 3. I think I need to find out what their BUSY night is and try the food on that day.

Every night here must start with the Ahi Tuna taquitos with Cajun lobster butter. Truly unique and a special treat. My wife and I shared the taquitos, white gumbo, mixed salad and amazing Potato Crusted Sea Bass. The prices are great, the service spot on and the BYOB sans corkage makes for an upfront significant discount.

Great local restaurant with a local clientele. Small menu done very well. And friendly, helpful staff. Ahi taquitos made excellent by lobster sauce. Potato crusted sea bass is great as is the rosemary chicken. The potato hash that they come with is tasty. Good food, good service, local business. We'll be repeat customers.

RAGE. SO MUCH RAGE FOR THIS PLACE. Luckily my dinner date (mom) and I were in decent moods since we came here for our Valentine's dinner on the 13th. If we weren't intentionally trying to make it a pleasant meal, we would've walked out. When we arrived, there were about 10 people either eating or finishing up their meals; we were the only two sitting down to order. I ordered the beet salad and the chicken/eggplant parm. My mom, after trying the tortilla soup, decided on the pasta primavera. Pretty simple stuff, right? Apparently not. My order wasn't placed until my mom settled on her dish -- since salad typically comes before an entree, wouldn't one assume at least *that* portion of the order would go to the kitchen? The salad arrived about forty minutes after we sat down. We waited another twenty for the entrees. The pasta primavera was made with mushrooms when my mom had specifically double checked to make sure neither mushrooms or olives were in the dish, so apparently it had to be re-made. Mine sat, steamy and ready to be brought to the table, for the ten minutes we waited for my mom's to be remade. By the time the food arrived, it was 10 pm and, being pretty much bedtime, we just asked to take it home. One point for our waiter (Andrew, I think) being nice-ish, though he didn't really check on us....or update us on our order at all. The fella cooking was very thorough, but ridiculously slow -- no way in hell is he the regular head chef. I did eat a portion of the chicken/eggplant parmesan when I got home. It was tastier than I anticipated, but like another reviewer mentioned, super salty. Bummed cuz I love supporting local businesses, but this place does NOT deserve the four- and five-star reviews. For the sake of your sanity as well as your wallet, SKIP.

The gang at Angel City continue to improve an already terrific concept: very good, often excellent, food served in a casual, almost family-like environment. We love the ahi appetizer. The leftover buttery lobster sauce is calling for the warm bread sitting nearby to be dipped in it. The chopped salad is one of the best ever. Simple, yet perfectly executed. We've decided they must put a super-addictive drug in the bread pudding. Why else would M and I feel an uncontrollable urge on a Thursday night to bypass all others for ACC? Well it could also be the Tacquitos or the salad or the sea bass or the... Well, you get the idea. Service levels continue to get better as more staff has been added. Though still spotty on occasion the staff's service is always oh-so-friendly and caring. The servers are good, it's just the water glass and bus service that needs help from time to time now. Chef Steve is custom tailoring and tweaking the menu with items that are popular. For instance, the pounded lamb chop almondine, ala Milanese, was really good recently, served with tasty Yukon Gold potatoes. As a "special" this is the kind of dish that would wow diners on the regular menu. Sooo good! We had an opportunity to order catering this past week for a house party we attended. The ACC staff did a nice job of preparing our order and having it ready at the appointed time. Everyone at the party commented positively on the food. Catering is a specialty of the restaurant and was the owner's previous business, I am told. Still running with the big dogs, we'd love to see Angel City Cafe even more bustling, ensuring that this little dog will be around for a long, long time. Sit. Stay. Enjoy.

Update on my review: Came here 2nd time around per the request of my hub. Customer service never fails. Everyone there is nice. However, when it comes to the quality of the food I'm not satisfied. Food is flavorful but the quality is just not there. The bread that was served on the second visit was not freshly baked. It was just slightly warm as if it was reheated. Ordered Tri-tip bbq and it was really dry. Also tried what my hub ordered which was the NY Steak, it was like marinated in vinegar and some seasoning of course it was flavorful, but I thought it was the wrong way of flavoring the NY Steak?! My hub and I were asked if we would like something from their dessert menu... of course I said no 'coz I didn't want to be disappointed anymore. Left the place... I don't think I will ever come back. 8/5/12 Review: Pros: Friendly and polite staff. Great homemade bread and the dip that goes with it is very tasty. BYOB no corkage fee. A good wine is a must to pair with their different dishes. The prices are cheap for the kind and quality of foods they serve. Menu is kinda fancy. Cons: One major mistake a restaurant can make is to forget serving the food to the customer. We waited for an hour only to find out that my hubs's food was sitting on their counter. How could they forget it?! The guy (who seemed like the owner of this place) was apologetic and told us dessert is on them. I felt so sorry for the owner. If they didn't let out food sitting at the counter for awhile, we would have enjoyed the crusted seabass a lot better. Well the sauce and especially the veggies that came with it were no longer steaming hot. :( The place seems confused. Their menu is way underpriced. The ambience is like of an elegant restaurant...candlelit dinner with nice chandelliers and decors, but they don't go with the outdoor patio. Too quiet when there are not a lot of customers...maybe add more speakers and loop the music too. The actual name of the restaurant (or cafe?) doesn't seem to match with the place. Lastly, I understand it's fairly new but I really hope they get their restaurant sign built outside permanently rather than having that banner hanging and covering what used to be there. Since I am a forgiving person and I liked their Menu, I am willing to come back here. Hopefully I won't be disappointed next time.

Went to this restaurant for the first time and it is amazing. I had the Seafood Linguini and it was perfection. Lots of shrimp, sea bass and salmon, they didn't skimp on the seafood. The "Spicy Red Sauce" wasn't as spicy as I was expecting, but it was very good. The staff was very attentive and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food served. I will definitely go back and I will recommend this restaurant to my friends.

We came back again after they sent us an anniversary coupon. I talked with the owner and thanked him for making our special day so extra special! We brought our own wine (no corkage fee), and enjoyed some amazing dishes: lamb shank, Sea Bass, beet salad and tortilla soup (a bit spicy :-). The chessy scalloped potatoes that come with the lamb were awesome as was the service and vibe. The free parking in the rear lot really helps. I plan on coming here much more! Keep up the good work guys!

I love the food, the staff and the location. I am there at least twice a month and I have never been disappointed. They have great prices for their dishes and they don't service alcohol, but you can bring your own wine and there is no corking fee! Try the eggplant and chicken parmesan you will love it and their potatoe crusted sea bass too!

We brought a bottle of wine for which we were charged no corkage, a major plus. We ordered what seemed to be a favorite among Yelpers, the Ahi Tuna Taquitos, they were smothered in sauce and deliciousness. We ordered a beet salad too, so fresh and yummy, the dressing was somewhat lame but luckily they serve warm bread with your meal alongside a balsamic dip that went extremely well with the salad. The asparagus was the only thing I left on my plate because it was undercooked. Our server split it for us for no charge. For our entrees, the potato crusted sea bass, was crispy and surprisingly not oily at all. A tasty lemon-caper sauce was drizzled all over it which made up for its lack of salt. Ordered a side of roasted potatoes, they were really hard and undercooked. My girlfriend ordered the eggplant parmesan, the eggplant was also undercooked but it did not lack flavor at all. Elmer was our server, I give him 5 stars for kindness, promptness, and humor. He was kind enough to call a taxi for us too. Dessert was fantastic, a berry bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, the bread pudding should've been served a tad warmer, but still yummy. To sum this up, the appetizers were great and on point, the entrees were just OK. Oh, the restaurant is pretty ugly, needs some updating, the printed booths make it seem like a Marie Calender's. (not a compliment)

My friend has been raving about this place for months and finally got me there. We split a Potato Encrusted Sea Bass and the portions were abundant! We almost licked the plate. The grilled buttery squash was just as delicious, but we didn't have room for dessert. She said the white chocolate bread pudding was to die for, which means we will most certainly have to come back. Absolutely fantastic, fresh and perfectly seasoned. You can find easy street parking out front or ask the waiter how to navigate yourself to the parking lot behind the restaurant. Our waiter, Elmer was fantastic and had the best attitude, and so proud to be part of this establishment. That tells you something right there. Find your way here, and you'll find yourself coming back over and over again.

I had. Lunch here with a coworker. I got the blackened chicken sandwich that has grilled onions and a pesto sauce along with provolne cheese. I had the sandwich with no cheese and asked for a side of lettuce and tomatoes. I ordered my lunch with a side of Mac and cheese and my friend had French fries. Before the food came out I had a tropical iced tea (unsweetened) which was probably the bet iced tea I've had in a long time. The bread seemed fresh and had a delicious dipping sauce. We didn't wait too long for the food to come out. My side of Mac and cheese was huge which is more than I can say for the sandwich. This was ok because it was lunch and I didn't need to be stuffed. I felt like I got a lot more for my money than my friend who had her sandwich with a side of fries. Sandwich had good flavor but the Mac and cheese was hands down the winner! Our check together for two sandwiches and one drink was less than $25. I spend more than that at chipotle or jersey mikes for lunch! Server was friendly and attentive seating was very nice!! I would definitely go back to try something else on the menu.

So the Ahi toQuito's were amazing! Also, the beef salad was pretty awesome. I was very excited to eat the potato crusted Sea Bass. However, it was very oily and greasy and didn't quite meet my expectations. All in all it was a very pleasant place to enjoy a lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. They even split all of our meals onto separate plates for us

I have passed by this place several times but the outside is not much to look at. They have an outside seating section but nothing spectacular. My husbands client said the food at this place was really good. My hubby and I decided to check this place out and when we walked in side we were really surprised how nice the place was. We were greeted by one of the server. We started out with the ahi tuna taquitos. They were yummy. The bread they severed was warm and DELICIOUS! I ate almost the whole basket full of bread. The clam chowder was different but good. It had a smokey taste. I had the potato crusted sea bass and my husband had the NY steak. Food was really good. Prices were reasonable. Restroom was really clean. Server was nice. I will definitely be coming back with my family to try something different on their menu.

Really disappointed in this restaurant. Food lacked flavor. They served bread without butter?? The dipping sauce that came with bread tasted like vinegar mixed with pepper! The ahi taquitos were presented beautifully but were awful. My hubby ordered the potato crusted sea bass. The fish was deep fried and then covered with lemon butter the veggies (zucchini and yellow squash) under fish were soggy! We also ordered the special soup Mexican chicken and Cajun clam chowder. The Mexican chicken soup completely tasteless . The best think about the restaurant was the service and the Cajun clam chowder! Will not Be returning so sad because I really love to support mom and pop businesses.

Solid 4 stars. Minus one star for witnessing a server drink from a water pitcher literally, lips to the pitcher... I carefully watched and made sure he didn't pour my water with that same pitcher. The service was a little slow during lunch, especially if there were only 4 tables being served. The bread was delightful as it was served warm with a vinagrette dressing. Oddly enough, the bread dressing was also the same dressing used for the spinach salad, which was great especially for the price! I also tried the tortilla soup, which was more of a chunky stew than a soup. It was tasty though... With a lingering hint of spice. We had to ask for the bill since service was lacking, but overall I'd come back again... To try all the desserts on the menu! Chocolate mousse, crime brûlée, and banana pudding?! I'm in.

Somewhat small menu but our meal was good and service was great. BYOW was an added bonus. I don't know why, but for some reason the night we went was completely packed...with old people. I have no problem with the elderly, but I am not exaggerating when I say we were the only people in the restaurant under the age of 50. And I would say the vast majority of patrons were at least 60. Maybe there was some unexplained reason for it, but I was so confused by this overwhelming majority on a Saturday night.

Overall very good. Started with ahi taquitos which were very good. Olive taponade was excellent also and quite different. Beet salad was great also. Ended with potato crusted sea bass. Unfortunately this dish was mediocre. Tasted like previously frozen fish and excessive oil in dish. Good service and great ambience

FIRST QUALIFICATION: I will give this place a second chance and come back for two reasons: 1) the ambiance is great and typical of a local boutique neighborhood eaterie (valley standards, not west LA...to be clear). Options abound from choosing to be seated in a quaint patio, casual dining area, or even a few high top tables. The restaurant provides great alternatives for large groups to a date night. The open kitchen is a nice touch too. 2) the value! While the menu is limited, it's on point and keeps to a theme that works. But most of all, do not underestimate the power of BYO wine without a corkage fee. There isn't any other charming restaurant I know of around that does that. That makes this place totally unique in that regard and makes the total experience very affordable for what you get. Now for the details. My girlfriend and I split the caprese salad and chicken eggplant parm. Portions big enough for that to work. They were both tasty. But The mozzarella cheese on caprese was cold, like right out of the icebox. It should be closer to room temp. we had to ask multiple times for bread despite being told many times by the waiter it was coming. They bake it fresh, which is great, but they ran out cuz of two large groups probably consuming it all (see below for more on that). I assume because of the great value, It is a family place, so be aware that a crying baby might be within an ear shot of your glass clanking. On this particular night the service was mediocre. The attention was lacking. I did notice that the owner (I believe the owner) was over seeing activity, but never once made the rounds table to table to check on guests. For boutique eateries like this, I was shocked he didn't do that. Instead I saw him swap out table cloths and reset tables over taking advantage of interfacing with guests. I found that a bit strange, since nobody was waiting for a table, plus there was a busser available to do that)...but not a big deal. service was slow, but it was crowded with two huge groups dining at same time, so I'll give them a pass. This situation was just a matter of capacity. Two huge groups impacted us two tops waiting. For example a lone diner that came in after us and after the two large groups orders passed thru the kitchen was served and attended to promptly. That person ordered the sea bass and it looked great and the smile on that lone diners face confirmed it was yummy. So with that, I must give this place another chance to confirm that the bad parts of our experience were an anomole. I hope so because this place has huge potential to differentiate it from anything else offered in the west valley. So bring a nice bottle of wine and enjoy....

Tried this place morning for breakfast...had the salmon hash recommended by the owner i believe. It was delish. Generous with the salmon. Great flavor. Everyone was nice. Server nice. Their in house habanero honey hot sauce is to die for sprinkle some on your dish its all that much better. A must try

A group of 12 of us went for dinner last night. Our waiter was friendly and great but he informed us right away that they were one cook short. With a cook being out and us being such a large party, it added at least 30 minutes to our dining experience. It turned out to be a three hour dinner. My mother-in-law suggested the potato crushed sea bass which a few of us ordered. My sister-in-law and I split the Cajun chowder for our appetizer and the bottle of wine she brought. There is no corkage fee which is a plus. The chowder was good and interesting. When I think of Cajun, I think of a red chowder but it contained dill which I would think would be a white chowder. When I asked the waiter said it was neither. Whatever it was, it was actually very good. I wish I had stopped there. While the potato crusted sea bass was good, it was not great. The piaccata sauce on my fish was not adequate for the portion of fish I was served. I noticed a few others had excessive sauce so definitely a lack of consistency. The fish was served on top of squash which was so mushy it was disgusting. My plate was incredibly hot and it felt like it had just come out of the oven at 400° or sat under the most intense heat lamp on the market. Not all the food was able to come out at once. My husband and father-in-law waited so long for their food that the first few people served were already done eating their entrees. By the time I arrived home my stomach was in knots. I puked everything I had eaten for dinner and spent the next few hours in a lot of pain. Sleep was near impossible and still hurts a little this morning. To my knowledge no one else got sick. I cannot say for certain if it was the food from Angel City Café or not but I would probably pass after my experience.

This is an extra star for the free corkage. Yes, BYOW and enjoy at no additional cost. As I'm quickly ascending the 12 steps (wait, am I going the wrong direction!), this is a BIG PLUS. The food itself is a strange fusion of seafood and Italian. We arrived late which may explain why our potatoes were about as over roasted as sushi. Yes, hard potatoes. (I assume everyone wants to leave so food gets the microwave treatment). I had the rosemary garlic chicken, which was a bit bland, but as I find flavor rather gauche, I was rather strangely okay with this fact. I jest. Note: The bread comes with a thick balsamic. It's good so explore these unknown waters. Based on ambiance, it could steer to Denny's or L'Orangerie. It really just depends on the lighting. Ergo, keep it cute Angel City.

Well this place has now been here a few months. It seems as if this location has on restaurant after another fail. Well this place should be here for a while. They have a limited menu but they do have specials. The owner does the cooking and the customer service is great. The food comes out hot and fresh. Everything we have had there has been great and they will make something special for the kids if there is nothing on the limited menu that they like. The prices are more than fair. Great value and nice neighborhood restaurant.

It's hard to find places like this anymore - Places that care about the food that they send out AND that don't gouge your wallets. From the outside this restaurant is not too attractive, but don't judge a book by its cover. Inside is a totally different feeling. The ambiance of this place is casual and classy at the same time. It's a lovely, clean feeling place. The staff here also were all very nice! I love the small menu, it shows that they care about every single dish thats on there. Everything on the menu sounded great. I ended up having the chicken eggplant parmesian and it was delicious. For dessert I had the bread pudding - amazing! You need to try it yourself to see how good the food is. To top it all off, the prices is what makes this place 5 stars. For the quality and ammount of food your getting, the prices are very fair to customers. Please don't hike prices from where they are! I hope that Angel City Cafe doesn't chage a thing (besides new menu items every now and then.) I will definitely be back soon.

Came here on a wednesday night with a friend... and man was it dead! The decor inside is very homey and welcoming, and the servers were really attentive and always checked up on us. The dip they have for the bread is awesome. Not sure what it is, but it's definitely worth a try. They had a ton of specials, and I got the salmon dinner plate. It was sooo yummy. Unfortunately I did not get to try much, but I'll definitely go back for another try.

Found this place on yelp and it's very good. Our party of 6 tried a number of dishes. The soups and salads are worth getting- we tried several and all got high marks. Entrees are somewhat limited but all were quite good. Kids menus is not printed, but available. Will definitely go back. If the standards are maintained, we will visit it many more times.

Excellent food. The scampi & fries app was tasty & the chicken with mushroom sauce was delicious. However I'm only giving 3 stars because the service was rather slow & they didn't have a kids menu (though Yelp says its good for kids). They brought my son a large plate of plain pasta and charged me $9. :( I'd come back for a date night though.

Wanted to try a local flavor in Woodland Hills instead of the same-old, same-old and saw the good reviews here - must say, a bit disappointing. Although the prices are fairly reasonable, the caesars salad was just "ho hum" - I saw everyone enjoyed the potato crusted sea bass and was not disappointed, but my wife's special steak stuffed with crab was so bad I spat it out. There's a reason CPK and Cheesecake Factory do so well. They know how to do it right. Highly doubt we'll be back. Service was good.

  • Neeta M.

We had been wanting to go to this place for awhile, and finally decided to try it. What a disappointing experience. Both entrees were over cooked, in fact some of the veggies were burned. Moreover, the highly rated sea bass was more crust than fish, and the brown sauce on my husband's chicken must have come out of an instant gravy packet. Only good things about the experience was the bread and the very kind server.

I adore this restaurant for many reasons. The service here is very spot on. The owner is very friendly and welcomes you in. The servers are trained by the best - Gus! The entire staff is warm and friendly. The food is always consistent and delicious. Their bread is freshly made on the premises every day and the sauce that it comes with, well, lets just say, you'll be asking for seconds or thirds. The menu is simple, and they have different specials, depending on what is in season. More than anything, I enjoy the various sauces that the Chef has created. Quite simply, this restaurant is just a great place to go on any night of the week if you're looking for a tasty dinner with great attentive service.

I had to try this place after I heard rave reviews about the potato crusted sea bass. First of all, the price is ridiculous! For $12, you get an enormous piece of fish and grilled vegetables. The fish was a bit dry, but the flavors were very nice. I enjoyed a nice cesar salad as well. My wife had the vegan tortilla soup, which she wasn't in love with. I love the fact that you can bring your own wine or beer - NO corkage fees! The food is solid, the prices are really good, the atmosphere is nice and the fact that you can open up your own bottle of wine at the table, makes this a place I would definitely visit again.

Delicious! This was my second visit and I was even more impressed. The chicken parmesan, made from chicken breast, marinated two days, had a wonderfully elegant and flavorful tamato sauce on top of the perfectly grilled piece of eggplant and mozzarella. It was so filling I could only eat half. I can't wait to eat my leftovers! And prices here are beyond affordable. My chicken parmesean entree was $11. This is a destination spot if you are in the valley.

After hearing and reading awesome reviews about this place we decided to try it out, so I brought my usual entourage with me (husband, son and daughter). We received a very friendly greeting upon our arrival. Everything looked appetizing on the menu, but the options were certainly limited. We also realized that they didn't have a kids menu or anything on their menu that would make a young palate happy. The waitress did offer, however, to ask the chef to come up with a NEW dish that was kid-friendly - what a way to feel special and well taken care of! Very friendly staff that kept the water glasses full and kept the warm bread and delicious balsamic dipping sauce coming. After striking small talk with the owner we learned that they had just opened their restaurant for business not too long ago and were VERY open to taking comments on how they could improve ** right away (I) suggested a kids menu ;) ** . They will be adding more items to their menu as soon as they receive more feedback from their customers. I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna appetizer. Their potato crusted sea bass was FANTASTIC!! The fish was so soft, warm, flaky and the potato crust really put the whole dish together well! Grilled veggies were cooked just perfectly and sprinkled with just the right amount of seasoning. My son's kid-friendly pasta (butter, garlic, cheese) was also quite delicious. We ate every single bit of it and unfortunately left no room in our belly to fit the bread pudding everyone is raving about. There will definitely be another opportunity to try that pudding ... maybe later in the week? With these prices I don't see why we shouldn't eat here all week long! **Update** - Went there for the second time within a week and tried a couple of new dishes which were just as AMAZING and ridiculously under-priced (not complaining)!! Their Cajun Clam Chowder was great and had a little spicy kick to it! Rosemary Chicken was cooked to perfection with just the perfect amount of seasoning! Again we couldn't leave enough room for the bread pudding and AGAIN they were very accommodating to my kids :)

Looked this place many times and decided to try it for lunch. Glad we did! I had the Cajun style Clam Chowder, hands down the best on the West Coast! Then I had the Blackened Chicken salad, chicken was awesome and the greens and dressing were great. Service was great. Oh and the Tropical iced tea was the bomb. Two thumbs up!

WOW! What a great find! Just moved from Torrance to Winnetka and have been finding all these new places through Yelp! Like many have said, the bread is fresh and warm, the taquitos are to die for not to mention the lobster sauce they bath in! My [Chinese] wife had the Potato crusted Sea Bass and mentioned it is the best she ever had and I had the Salmon dish, which was also outstanding. We cleaned our plates of every drop! No room for dessert...save for next time! Staff was very friendly and attentive. My new favorite!

Great find! Thanks, Yelpers. Delicious food at amazingly great prices always make me happy. Since it was Valentine's day, I decided to call in my dinner order, pick it up and bring it home. When I got there, Russell (whom I spoke with on the phone, and who may be the owner or manager) generously gave me two warm loaves of artisan bread with a dipping sauce (Delicious, creamy balsamic sauce) to go with my order. I had the rosemary chicken with mushroom sauce. Mmmmm... the chicken breast was perfectly cooked - really moist and nicely flavored of rosemary and seasoning throughout. The mushroom sauce, which wonderfully coated the tender, buttery fingerling potatoes and chicken, was so good, I wiped it off my plate with my bread (a perk of eating my dinner at home!). My husband loved his tri-tip and fries. Then we had the bread pudding - heaven! Creamy, silky, warm white chocolate sauce with blueberry deliciousness. I only wish we had eaten the meal there. With the traffic, police cars and ambulances I had to pull over for, it took me long enough to get home that my food wasn't as warm as it could've been. My fault. Next time (which will probably be soon), I'll eat there.

THHHEEE BRRRREEEAADDD PPPUDDDDIINNNNGGG OH MY GOD! This place is new, I work across the street and I am tired of eating Poquito Mas fake burritos. So, I walked over, a little hestitant cause the place was empty (NOT FOR LONG!!) Sat down and looked over the menu. For the items in there, VERY CHEAP! the quality of food and service, not cheap at all! I had the shrimp scampi and it was phenominal. My friend had the chicken with the capers and that looked great. The owner was so cool he brought out a free desert for us, the bread pudding.. I have been on the hunt for the perfect bread pudding, and this place has it. I asked if it was made in house, and sure enough, the same guy that makes the bread pudding, makes the rolls! I found my new lunch place from work. Maybe even dinner to go! Watch for my check ins in this place... Ill take DUKE!

Went in for the first time as part of a large party. Staff brought the bread out quickly, as we waited for the guest of honor. Drinks and bread were quickly replaced, then we got to order. Got the seafood linguini, which was excellent. Others also ordered soup, which I regret not ordering, because it looked great, too. Also ordered the salmon, but the family was not feeling well (no fault of the cafe), so they took the food to go. Came home to raving reviews of that as well. I think we found our new favorite Italian spot!

Amazing quality of food, at a really cheap price. Be sure to try their soups, taquitos, and bread pudding.

5/5 based on tase to price ration. The food is really good here, sea bass, chicken, and the n.y. steak special were all cooked well and all tasted great. The chicken was very moist and the fish had a nice crust. The menu is small but I prefer that, they know what they make good and limit it to that. The cajun clam chowder was also very good. The only thing that I disagreed with was the pudding dessert which I did not think was very good, but overall for the price you cant beat this food.

We have now been to Angel City Cafe four times. There were some growing pains when they first opened regarding service, but they've got it going on overall now! From our first visit, to our latest visit last night, the food has been amazing! We dream about the spicy seafood chowder, spinach salad, and potato crusted sea bass...and of course, you gotta save room for the bread pudding! We tried the ahi taquitos last night for the first time...awesome!! The warm, fresh bread is good, and the owner/chef is really cool. The prices are soooooo reasonable...that's why it is always packed. We didn't have a reservation, so we ate outside last night...really lovely. Angel City Cafe has become our go-to restaurant in the Woodland Hills area. What a find!

My friends and I were excited to try this new neighborhood place based on the glowing reviews and "beautiful patio". I am sad to report that the food was below par and not worth recommending and the "beautiful patio" was directly on Ventura sans heating lamps and on basic patio furniture. This place doesn't yet have a liquor license but we were invited to purchase alcoholic beverages from a liquor store about a block up. They did not charge a corkage fee, however, it took forever to get our waitress to bring a wine opener and glasses. Whatever you do, DO NOT try any of the soups. Staff was friendly but disorganized as we needed to ask to place our dinner order after we ate our appetizers. Overall, not worth trying.

The other reviews speak the truth. Love the bread and the balsamic sauce. The cajun clam chowder was perfect, with just the right amount of heat. I had the tri-tip, with black beans and french fries. The meat was perfect, the fries were outstanding, and the black beans were so good I finished them--and since I ordinarily HATE black beans, that is saying a LOT! Tasted the shrimp scampi....outstanding. Service was very attentive and friendly. DESERT: The bread pudding with blueberry compote is worth the price of admission alone. A suggestion or two: My friend found the spinach salad bland. Not enough to grade down a new restaurant with such promise. Suggestion: Add a sandwich or two for the lunch crowd. Or some form of lunch special. Some might find the menu too limited, but what there is-- is choice. Go

Crazy loud when we arrived; tables are packed right next to each other. Thought we'd have to leave, but the foursome at the next table left first - then it was OK. The mushroom sauce on my chicken breast was mediocre and my vegetables were undercooked - one of the potato pieces was raw. Others at my table said the same thing about the veggies that accompanied their entrees. I won't go back. The portions are so big, though, that you could split a meal with a friend (I wish I had done that - I waddled out looking like I'd eaten a football) and wind up with a perfectly honest bill for a night out. Also on the plus side: Free corkage!!

This is an absolutely wonderful new neighborhood restaurant, and it makes me so happy! The service was attentive and our food was served quickly and perfectly prepared. The complementary freshly baked bread (two varieties) was served with butter and a delicious balsamic dipping sauce. The Shrimp Scampi Appetizer was so good, my kids were licking the sauce off the plate. The Ahi Taquitos were outstanding, the sauce was well-seasoned but not hot. The Grilled Chicken Breast was a generous portion of perfectly grilled boneless chicken breast coated with a tangy lemon butter sauce. The vegetables were tender and not over cooked, and everything was served hot. Even my young children were happy with generous portions of pasta and really good tomato sauce. The bread and all of the sauces are obviously made on the premises, and everything was fresh and very flavorful. There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant, and an entrance there, too. BYOB, no corkage fee. The prices were great, just what we look for when taking the whole family out for dinner. Bravo, Angel City! Welcome to my neighborhood!

Coffee is horrible! When they bring the French press to your table, you are thinking: "well, this should be good!" But it is not!!! I'm not sure what type of coffee they use but they should reconsider. I stopped going after the 3rd try because I so enjoy coffee with my meals. Also, they play only jazz music in the mornings and its not relaxing...... I hope the owner reads this and makes these minor changes because its nice to support local business.

Quaint little restaurant opposite of the Auto Mall down on Ventura Blvd. Compact menu but delicious offerings and serving sizes are just right. I personally love their Cajun Clam Chowder (i think that's what it's called). Make reservations because this little place gets packed during the weekends. Parking lot can be a little hectic to find but it's located somewhere in the back (though we parked on the street because we just gave up looking for the parking lot).

I agree with all of the other reviewers, this place is a find. It's hard for a new restaurant to make it,and I hope they beat the odds because it's slim pickings for good places on that part of Ventura. I had the sea food pasta which came with a red sauce that had the perfect amount of kick to it and decent portions of shellfish. Yummy bread, good service, great prices.

I wanted to try something new on a Friday evening and found this spot through yelp . I was impressed by the menu, pictures of the food and the more than reasonable pricing and decided to try it out. Summary: It was amazing and most importantly did we get value for the price? Answer:more than 200 percent! They don't have a alcohol license but you can bring your own with No corkage fee which I prefer. We got a petite Syrah and were on our way. I really liked the menu with limited but amazing options for appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and dessert. Additionally, they have a "special" menu of the day. We ordered both appetizers; the taquitos with that lobster sauce...they are amazing!!!! Its a fusion of flavor in your mouth leaving you wondering what just happened? And the shrimp scampi with the perfect little French fries awsome as well, my son loved it. Then the soup..OMG. The clam chowder has this out of this world taste...it's like smoky and spicy but not too spicy and it's just like nothing I have ever tasted. The sea bass was amazing and my husband ordered the chicken with the mushroom sauce also incredible. We topped dinner off with the fabulous bread pudding, absolutely perfect. The chef is the owner! We watched him the entire time making the entrees, checking them etc And his mother "works" there as well, adorable lady. We got to talking to her and I was so happy to see her right there with her child, supporting him in his new venture. (he has been catering for more than 15 years and decided to try out a restaurant...we are lucky he did!!) To me the experience was like having a home cooked meal, friendly staff, nice ambience, excellent food and the price was awsome. Enjoy it now, as often as you can, taste everything, before he raises his prices which I'm sure will happen sooner or later. Make it a great day!

This was my first time eating at this restaurant. I must say that the food was really great. I ordered the potato crusted sea bass and Cajun clam chowder. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, while the clam chowder had just the right amount of "kick". Over-all, I gave this place 5 stars. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone wanting a great meal.

What a great find! Woodland Hills needed a great restaurant, and here it is! We never expected such delicious, fresh, and creative food at a little neighborhood spot that is not impressive from the street. Don't be put off, once inside, a fantastic meal and friendly service transform the experience. Seafood Chowder and Spinach Salad rank 10 stars!

Ordered ago taquitos appetizers, cajun clam chowder and small spinach salad. Husand had tortillas soup and potato crusted sea bass. Had French press coffee. He had chocolate mousse. Every single thing is homemade, very fresh, amazing food. Service still has some issues but they are very nice. Will be back. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Looooove this place! My husband and I ate here a few weeks ago. Our waiter, Elmer, was super sweet and always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. They don't serve alcohol but there's a little place next door if you want to get some beer or wine and there's no corking fee. We got the ahi tuna taquitos in lobster butter as an appetizer which were amazing and not filling. My husband got the shrimp alfredo. Probably some of the best alfredo we've had. I got the potato crusted sea bass, and while I'll admit it was a tiny bit bland if there was a bite without a decent amount of sauce on it, it was still very good. The white chocolate bread pudding sent me into a culinary orgasm. We'll be back often.

Went here for brunch and again for dinner. It's a lot nicer inside than it looks while driving up and parking in the back. + french press coffee for breakfast + affordable cafe prices, but in a more elegant atmosphere +/- limited menu options, but the items they have are very high quality

We'd been looking to go here for a while and thank God we finally made it in here, To start with the ambiance is that of a much more expensive restaurant (not the norm for me) and the service was great. The have a small menu but since we'd never been there we used the waiter and his advice to help us decide between a few things and ended up with the Ahi Tuna Taquitos for an appetizer, split the Mixed Green salad & we got the Seafood Linguini with Spicy Red Sauce and the Tri-Tip Sandwich (and 2 drinks). All the food was top shelf, the Salad was special in that it was a basic salad (for them) but it was better than most places dinner salads and their Tri-Tip Sandich (bread was real good too) was better than most BBQ places. The only reason I went into detail about meal was to paint a decent picture of the meal; which was UNDER $40....W O W!!! Yelp was made so we can find places like this...

I am lucky enough to work right across the street from this gem on Ventura Blvd. It just opened a few weeks ago, and I was so pleased with my experience there. In fact, I'm planning on coming back to eat there tomorrow. I was especially surprised about how inexpensive the food was for the quality. Usually when I hear "Ahi Tuna Taquitos" or "Potato Crusted Sea Bass" I think of a very expensive restaurant. It was a great price and the food was amazing! I ordered: -mixed green salad ($3.50): Very light and refreshing. Perfect start to my meal. -Ahi Tuna Taquitos ($5.50): The lobster cajun butter sauce was one of the most delicious sauces I've ever tried. A nice complement to the taquitos. It even came with guacamole. -Potato Crusted Sea Bass ($11.50): the crust was nice and crispy, and the portion was just right. -White Chocolate Bread Budding ($4.50) - usually I don't order desserts at restaurants (especially at lunch), but I decided to treat myself. This was delicious! So I highly recommend that you check this place out. I've only gone for lunch, but they are also open for dinner.

I came in recently with my boyfriend for a date night. The atmosphere felt "family friendly" and the menu was small, but we trusted our server and ordered his recommendations. I ordered the potato crusted sea bass which was really delicious, but unfortunately sat on top of my least favorite vegetable, zucchini. The dish said it was served with mixed veggies, and it was a bummer to see only zucchini which I can't stand. Another reviewer suggested putting mashed potatoes on the menu, and I agree. Even though it's potato crusted it would go well with a starch and some garlicky mixed vegetables. Just a thought. Boyfriend ordered rosemary chicken and it was "ok". Chicken was a bit dry, but it tasted nice with the lemon caper sauce. What really makes this place is the service. Our server was a rock star! Might come back to try a few other dishes or try to customize the sea bass plate.

Wow what a treat! All I can say is that they better grow bigger fast! We passed Angel City today on our way to The Carving Board for lunch and decided to have dinner here, last minute. I am glad we made a reservation because this place was full! We walked in at 7:30 and were greeted by Gus, the manager. What a great guy! We had a very nice quiet table and promptly had our wine opened. Note: bring your own because they don't serve any, but have no corkage fee! Gus explained the menu and suggested favorites along with many yummy specials meat, chicken, and fish. We began the meal with the ahi taquitos served served with avocado and lobster butter to die for. I wish we ordered two! It comes with four taquitos, but I could have eaten all of them myself! Enjoy the sauce after with the homemade bread! The dipping sauce served with the bread tastes like some kind of anchovy delight. So good! For dinner we had the salmon with potatoes which came with lemon butter sauce. We also had the potato crusted sea bass. OMG! Both portions were huge and came with delicious butter sauce and fresh veggies. I was so happy with the food that I wanted to order anther entree! It's that good! For dessert we had bread pudding. I hate bread pudding but read the Yelper's reviews and just had to try it. This was amazing! It tasted like cinnamon French toast with vanilla whipped cream. That's my best description. Go there now before it gets impossible to get in! A much needed gem in the valley. We cannot wait to go back!

Clearly, this place has a fan base, so don't lynch me for my 3 star rating. Perhaps my expectations were too high after reading all the rave reviews? This place is VERY new and I'm happy to read that they are taking customer suggestions....because there is A LOT of potential here and I plan to give it another chance. That said, this was my take on my first time there: The good: + Insanely LOW prices ($4 salads/$9 entrees) + Friendly service (hostess and wait staff) + Yummy bread and balsamic dip + Easy Parking (street and lot) + Healthy menu options + Nice clean decor The not so good: - Very limited menu - Really quiet - yes, its not flooded w people yet, but tunes would be nice. - Goat cheese salad w pecans was not great- pecans were hard and odd tasting. - The chicken and the sea bass were kind of bland. Bottom line: Come with managed expectations. The food needs a little work, but the service and prices might make up for that.

Chaos! I have to admit on this particular occasion I did not end up eating here- although previously I did and thought the food was pretty good. This is a fairly new neighborhood restaurant and originally it was inexpensive and rarely crowded however now the prices have been raised and it is very busy on weekends. We decided to go to the restaurant two Saturdays ago. The restaurant was packed, there were numerous large parties (tables of 10+) and lots of people standing around waiting. My gripe is that they do not have a waiting list nor a hostess. When I asked the owner if he could take our names he said he's not taking names but it should be about a 15 minute wait. Subsequent couples were told it would be 45 minutes to an hour wait. Rather than stand around for an undetermined amount of time and risk having people that came in after us being seated before us, we left. The place is just too chaotic, everyone standing around (there is no bar), no one knows who came in first. We'll probably go back if the place gets more organized.

Such quality every time we come here. The owner/chef is one of the best examples of what true customer service and customer appreciation truly entails. With offering samples when one is unsure, to unlimited bread and delicious sauce, to ensuring his staff has a smile from ear to ear, to QUALITY food - he/they have it all! Their Potato Crusted Sea Bass is so delicious you need to hit something lol! And their Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana is out of this world - you can't even tell it's NOT fried! Try their Ahi Tuna Taquitos - you'll be pleasantly surprised, along with their Shrimp Scampi with Shoe String Fries! Last, but not least, their Scalloped Potatoes are out of this world! My only request is for the owner/chef to PLEASE add mashed potatoes on the menu! It goes so wonderfully with the sea bass, the salmon, and even the tri-tip that it's a shame to not be on the menu. Other than that, enjoy, everyone!

One of my new favorite restaurants in Woodland Hills...thanks to Yelp! Very cozy atmosphere with a semi open kitchen. Loved the ambiance and simple décor. There is a small parking lot in the back. For the price, quantity and quality of food they give you, Angel City Café is such a gem. They have a very small menu (maybe 10 or so entrees)...but they have daily specials, so make sure they tell you about them. The Ahi Taquitos with Lobster Butter Sauce and Guacamole was decent...I personally wouldn't order it against but rather would order one of their soups or beet salad for a starter. The ahi was a bit on the dry side and there was not much inside. However, the lobster butter sauce is delicious! Don't let it go to waste and dip your bread into it! Every entrée I have tried thus far has exceeded my expectations in every way. First, the Potato Crusted Sea Bass ($13)...sooo good! I have never had fish cooked in this manner. It was perfectly tender and the potato crust gave it an amazing taste and texture. The lemon butter sauce that accompanied it, was a perfect pairing for this savory dish. Another note is that the size of the fish is very generous. My next favorite that I have tried so far is the Spicy Seafood Linguine ($13). Again the portions are extremely generous. Huge bowl of pasta with the right amount of sauce. Probably one of the better red seafood sauces I have tasted in a restaurant. It wasn't too spicy but it was full of morsels of sea bass, salmon, and shrimp. It was even better the next day! The Grilled Tri Tip ($12.95) is also very good. Perfectly sliced and grilled tri tip that comes with a yummy smokey barbecue sauce. Also comes with fries that are very rustic...reminds me of a longer version of In-n-Out fries, so not battered and super crispy. I would also recommend the Bread Pudding...comes with a white chocolate sauce and a berry sauce. I have ordered take out here before and everything was packaged beautifully. The service here is ok. A little slow in terms of filling water but otherwise very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The best part of Angel City is no corkage fee! So go to the Trader Joe's across the street, grab a bottle and enjoy your dinner!

Excellent food, amazing customer service....and you can bring your OWN wine - what else can you ask for? I love this place. I have had the tuna taquitos, potato crusted sea bass, garden salad, and salmon (not all at once!!!) and I have never been disappointed. Their house-bread is delicious. If you are looking for a nice place in Ventura Blvd where you get your money's worth - then this is the place for you. Love it.

Excellent meal at amazingly affordable price. We had a 12:30 pm lunch and began our meal alone in the restaurant. That is distressing. because the quality and preparation of the three dishes we ordered was letter perfect. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere quite attractive. By the time we finished a leisurely lunch there were a total of fifteen customers. . . Not enough to keep this place in business and it certainly deserves to survive. Each of the three dishes we ordered, a pasta dish, a wonderful moist and flavorful salmon and great Cobb salad were excellent. Angel City has no liquor license so bring your own wine, expect and receive a wonderful meal, end up paying a bargain price, enjoy the experience AND HELP THIS DESERVING RESTAURANT TO SURVIVE.

This place was fantastic!! The staff is all very pleasant & attentive, good knowledge of the menu & helpful. This place looked really cute from the street with its outdoor patio. We sat outside and were really looking forward to a nice and relaxing dinner. The food we ordered was very basic and nothing special. The chicken breast was dry and looked like one of the frozen breasts you would by at Costco. The worst part of the visit was the terrible service. The waiter was very slow and kept forgetting to bring things we asked for. I would take a pass on this restaurant.

I was looking for a local restaurant to have Valentine's day dinner with family and friends, and based on reviews I found Angel City Cafe. I made reservations online, surprisingly was able to get it for 8 people. It s a very cute place, with a nice ambiance. The service was a bit slow, I think they were short on staff for some reason. Within an hour, there was a line of at least 10 people waiting to sit down, I assume some were walk-ins trying to get dinner last minute. Menu was small, which we all liked, plus few specials. Food was great, we ordered taquitos in lobster sauce, salads (mixed greens and special beat salad), we also had 3 different soups (Mushroom, Tortilla and Cajun chowder). All starters were tasty, and well prepared, our 8-11 y/o loved it, too. We brought our own wine, no corkage...awesome (Trader Joe's is across the street, in case you forgot) For main entry we had blackened salmon, potato crusted sea bass, pasta with scampi, and BBQ tri tip. The portions are good size, kids split them, and everything was delicious, as all the plates were clean. Because it was already late, and its a school night, we left without trying desert. We will return very soon to try some more.

Ohhh bread pudding I miss you!! Found this place a little over a month ago and have gone back at least 3 times ever since. The first time I came here my friend and I just wanted to grab some late night dessert. We had already eaten dinner so we were pretty full. Our waitress was really friendly and after she took our drinks and dessert order (bread pudding) she brought out some bread with a balsamic dipping sauce. We both grabbed a piece and in less than 2 minutes that bread basket was empty. Wow! It was the most amazing deliciously sweet bread I've ever had. Ever since I have been coming back for more. The rosemary chicken breast is by far my fave entree. The Angel City staff is super nice and always on top of service. Last but not least the prices are great. Next on my list is the potato crusted sea bass and the ahi tuna taquitos. =]

I have now debated for a week about leaving a review however I have now decided I would want people to know. After all, I went due to the great reviews and was so very disappointed, I actually thought I had the wrong restaurant. The service was absolutely unacceptable. We sat outside as the air conditioning was blowing full blast on the inside. AFTER we were seated, a gentleman came in with a huge dog (well behaved) and a child. Everybody from the inside came out to take his order and play with the dog. This would have been fine accept we are treated as though we never even sat down. Finally brought bread and I asked for butter. It never came until I finally asked a third time. My son's tri tip looked so dry we were sure it had been rewarmed. My husbands salad was so chopped up it was like eating watery baby food. Our Waiter questioned if he would like protein added to his salad and he said yes to add the chicken; it never happened. I don't go out for dinner to spend my money and be treated as though my $$ is not as good as the next guy. I always want the neighborhood restaurants to succeed but this one gave me nothing to prove it was at all interested in my business. I would not even give them a second chance.

Angel City Cafe is great. The let you BYOA (bring your own alcohol) and the bread is baked fresh for every single table; two things that instantly make this place pretty damn cool. I had the ahi-tuna taquitos, potato crusted sea-bass, and the unbelievably good bread pudding. Every dish tasted on point and I will definitely be back for more.

Hubby & I picked this place for our monthaversary and I'm so glad we did. The ambience was simple and clean. We were seated inside and our waitress (blonde hair and blue eyes) was a delight. She had the perfect amount of humor and totally hooked us up with two baskets of bread and that amazing sauce...anchovy I presume. I ordered the potato crusted sea bass and he ordered the shrimp scampi. His portion was just right if followed by dessert and mine was quite large for under $14, it was a deal! I did have some excessive oil on the plate which was the only downside. Quick tip: if you have extra sauce that you dipped the bread in, add some to the dishes. It adds an extra salty and acidic flavor to punch up their entrees. We had the bread pudding for dessert and it was delicious! Should've ordered two :( Definitely gonna come back. Total for two sodas, two entrees, and one dessert plus tax came to $40.

My rating is completely for the food! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! If you're a foodie, or you enjoy watching the food network, this is the restaurant for you. The reason you so many pictures of the taquitos is because they are delicious with the guacamole and the lobster sauce. The bread is warm and the unique dipping accompaniment is not your boring oil or balsamic. They have unique flavors! We saved some of the lobster sauce from our appetizer and dipped the bread in it...delish! I had the sea bass and it was perfect from start to finish. I don't know how some other reviews say the size was small. The food was not over salted as it is in chain restaurants. We ended with the bread pudding, which was not warm and we were disappointed, but when the owner came to check on us, I casually mentioned it and he comped us our next dessert. I'm happy he came around, especially since our waitress was lil-- zoney. My son had the mac n cheese, it was enormous! My husband had the shrimp pasta, and it was very flavorful. We'll definitely be back!

We walked over last night after reading the good reviews and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and our waiter Gus was funny and called out the 3-star rating below! They listened to her apparently because there was music playing and the salad with pecans and goat cheese was awesome! I had the tortilla soup which was great and my boyfriend had the tri-tip which he loved. They do not offer alcohol but I assume they are working on that because they have a bar in the back. The only thing I might suggest is that they dim the lights a bit. It was like operating room bright in there which seemed kinda weird, but my boyfriend was actually kinda stoked because he could read the menu without his glasses for a change!

Love this place! The food was excellent. I thought the pricing was reasonable especially for the portion sizes. I plan to go back again and again. Make sure you have the bread pudding! It is out of this world.

So Its not Roy's or Fleming's but it is reasonably priced savory food. I especially enjoyed the bread pudding. Our waitress Rachel was very friendly. I will definitely be back to sample more next time.

This is my 2nd time coming here and let me tell you this place did not impress me at all. The first time I came here I had a high expectation that this place is that good. To start off... The staff are very nice. They are very attentive ... Gus (probably the owner / manager) was very knowledgeable of the foods that they serve. So far so good right? I agree. Then after a little over an hour I still do not have my food while my wife received her food 30 minutes earlier. So when I asked for my food, Gus was apologizing and offered us free desert, because my food has been sitting on the counter left to get cold. When I received my food, it seems like my sea bass and the veggies were just thrown in the microwave. To say the least I didn't enjoy my dinner. But I was like ... let me give this place a 2nd chance...so I did. This time I brought a Bordeaux since they do not serve wine, and they do not charge a corkage fee. This time I ordered N.Y. Steak and my wife ordered Tri-tip. The steak was sub par. It was salty and taste like it was soak in vinegar for a week. My wife's tri-tip was so dry that even the wine couldn't help. But at least they didn't forget my food on the counter this time. Conclusion: The staffs were very nice to us and Gus knows his food. But with a horrible 1st experience and having a chef who couldn't cook a good meal, I can safely say that I will not return to this "cafe" any longer.

The food is prepared by a very versatile chef and everything we have ordered has had a fresh spin on the dish. Very reasonable prices and portions. The pasta and sauces have been very good. I would give it 4+but there is no bar. However neither will they charge to cork yours. .. bring something white and red and enjoy. You will not be rushed and have a latte before you leave. It's also quiet so you can actually have wonderful conversation. Informal and well lit. Maybe too bright for a romantic interlude so just remember to bring the wine--even if you're married! Beautiful.

My mom and I decided to try a new spot for good food and casual atmosphere. The food was excellent! Couldn't believe the prices! The food quality, portion size and taste was worth well beyond the menu price. Our server, Kimberly, was sweet as could be and very attentive. Tortilla soup..yumm! Potato crusted sea bass..yumm..tri tip..yumm and bread pudding...yummy...we are very happy to find a new place to go!

My son found this place on Yelp. We called and got a reservation for Saturday night and when we arrived, our table was ready fairly quickly, despite the fact that they were almost full. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because they took too long to get us menus, drinks, and to take our order. The waiter knew it, and apologized and told us we would get a free dessert, which we did receive. My son and his wife shared the Ahi Taquitos appetizer, which they enjoyed. We had two soups, which were both excellent. All four of us enjoyed our entrees. Mine was chicken eggplant parmesan, which was not breaded and very tasty. The prices were very reasonable and I look forward to going back and trying other things.

Hopefully this place lasts longer than the million other places it's been before this. Bread with balsamic dip...YES! I really liked the sea bass for lunch and the veggies it came with were good too, and I'm not really a veggies kinda guy unless you're counting potatoes. Considering we were the first people in for lunch, the food was pretty slow to come out. Would give 4.5 if I could.

Another one of my Yelp discoveries & triumphs. My BF was looking for a place for his mom's birthday in August. Armed with her likes and dislikes, Angel City came up not too far from us. We made a reservation since we were going Friday night; I don't know about other Friday nights, but it turned out to be unnecessary for this time. There were only about 2 other groups in the restaurant. They popped our wine(no corkage fee), and we ordered from the friendly waitress. Going by the reviews, my BF tried the crusted seabass, and loved it. I tried the spicy seafood pasta. God, it was ENORMOUS! I still had enough to take a full meal with me the next day to work. Not to mention it was delicious. I didn't try his mom's or her husband's food, but they said they were pleased with their dishes as well. The crowning glory was the berry bread pudding. Super decadent; the waitress mentioned it was her favorite dessert. Plus, the prices are...ridiculous. In a good way. In a so-cheap-it-must-be-a-misprint way. But your eyes do not deceive you...apparently there is at least 1 business left that doesn't knife your wallet to experience fantastic food. Really need to go again.

Great food, good portions, perfect prices. The bread that came for free was clearly baked fresh and was absolutely delicious, as was the balsamic dipping sauce. Owner/cook is nice, attentive and even gave us a dessert to try for comment/suggestion. Wait staff friendly and not invasive. Ample sitting area, simple atmosphere and a small menu that still has options for everyone.

This place has been open for a little over a year and my wife and I began coming shortly after that. We're now committed regulars because the food quality is superb and the prices very reasonable. We've had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed, but the Potato Crusted Sea Bass stands out as my favorite. The soups are all excellent and their "cup" is really a nice sized bowl. And then there is the bread pudding for dessert!! Don't understand why anyone would give this place less than 4 stars, but I give it 5 stars enthusiastically.

It was Saturday night August 18th around 8PM when we ventured to this cafe upon the suggestion of our friend Marlene. She had gotten engaged and wanted to hang with some of her closest friends. ACC got a lot of good reviews and to my surprise they allowed patrons to bring their own wine without charging corkage, Marlene quickly made an online reservation and we were set...so we thought. We were promptly seated but unwary of the messy logistical debacle that made this place a candidate for Restaurant Impossible. We enjoyed our wine and caught up on the news for about 45 minutes. In that 45 minutes later we got one plate of salad, a couple of baskets of bread, and two apologies from the wait staff. Even though the staff was friendly, it would have been nice to be alerted in advance before we sat down that there was a party of 24 that came in before us and a whole bunch of people. 5 minutes later we concede and left as did some other customers. I can understand that there could be nights where it's ultra busy but it would have been nice to be informed ahead of time of the possibility of a long wait. At least we could have made an informed decision. I only saw 2 chefs cooking and they were not churning out food at a quick pace at all. What a disappointment this cafe turned out to be, The prices looked reasonable but I can't comment on the food because I didn't have any.

Meh. The bread was nothing special, the dipping sauce appeared to be a thickened Italian salad dressing. I ordered the Caesar salad, asked for chicken on it. The salad itself was okay but they put shredded chicken on it. ??? Yes, like a Chinese chicken salad. Was going to try the panna cotta or bread pudding, but left after waiting 45 minutes for someone to return. It was that hard just to get the check too. There aren't many dining options in WH, so maybe that's why this place gets busy. Better off to keep going east on Ventura Blvd, sorry.

What an incredible experience. From the smart and lovely waitress to the incredibly creative food, there is still a glow deep in the belly that only comes from eating great cuisine and having a good laugh with the wife. My homie Michele G.'s review definitely helped me decide to dine in - and not take home to zap in the Microwave and then consume while catching up on Breaking Bad or watching steroid addled swimmers go for the London gold. The clam chowder is something not of this planet. Smoky and rich - unlike anything I've tasted before. It's like loving a woman not of your species, and deciding you will never stray again. The potato crusted seabass lived up to its fame and then some. But as the song goes "you'll have to have them all pulled out after the Bread Pudding." As the chef told us 'it's addicting' - what he didn't tell us is that the benefits of such a satisfying dessert totally outweigh anything negative. If this is what addiction is all about, then hell - I'll see ya tomorrow Dr. Drew.

My wife and I have lived in Calabasas for 16 years. For those who don't know, Calabasas is adjacent to Woodland Hills, the city in which ACC has been serving unbelievably delicious food for the past 6 months, and not a lot of people know about it. For my wife and I that's a good thing. For ACC it is not. Our first time in was maybe three weeks ago. My sister had been advised of the place's existence by a co-worker at the Post Office. She and my mom are now regulars. My wife and I have been there five times, and I have a breakfast meeting there tomorrow. That'll make six. First thing I had was the Salmon Hash. Through the roof delicious. My wife had the brunch omelet. She's Korean and impossible to please. She loved it. Next time in I had the Potato Encrusted Sea bass and she had the Scampi pasta. Both were home-runs. The bread that they bring to the table is also made in-house and is absolutely delicious when its fresh. We are yet to have it other than fresh. Next time in my wife had the potato encrusted Sea bass and I had a chicken dish, the name of which I cannot remember. Both were delicious. Chef Stephen comes from the Hollywood catering business. I think this is his first restaurant. I am about as sure as I can be that for every 100 guests that stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, he will have a minimum 95 customers like my wife and I who can't wait to repeat. His sauces alone are to die for. As for the coffee and deserts...both are excellent. The coffee is brought to the table in a small glass press. It's as fresh and vibrant as coffee can be. One press is good for 3 cups of coffee. The service, like the food, is as good as it gets. The waiters and waitresses seem to be genuinely and every bit as much impressed with the food as are the customers. If you are in the area, and you are looking for a great place to eat, great food, very nice ambiance, and all with prices straight out from 1985. It's without question among the finest dining establishments in the West Valley.

My husband and I have been to Angel City Cafe several times over the past year. We love to bring our own great bottle of wine and not be charged a corkage fee. The food is good. It has gotten better over the year since we have been going. The ahi tuna taquitos are worth the trip, salads are great, bread is wonderful, and their bread pudding is to die for. The best dinner I've had is probably the salmon. We have noticed they hired several young men, and they all seem to be quite good, enthusiastic, and attentive. We can't wait for warmer evening weather so we can sit outside on the patio while enjoying a nice glass of wine with friends.

Hubby and I had dinner there tonight for the first time. It was fantastic! The gentleman who served us was great - so friendly and warm - and when we tried to order beer/wine, and were told they didn't serve alcohol, he directed us to a store just a few steps away and didn't charge a corkage fee! We had the shrimp scampi and potato crusted sea bass and both were awesome - cooked to perfection and amazing flavors! And we ordered the ahi tuna taquitos for an app and they were the tastiest treats ever! My husband and I highly recommend this place - and will definitely be eating there again! Also very affordable for the high quality food and service offered.

The food itself was pretty good, and as other reviewers suggested, the bread was outstanding. They told us they make everything in house, and that was apparent from the minute the bread showed up. We had a potato leek soup special which was hearty but delicious and some salads for lunch that were a little less remarkable but by no means bad. Menu was fairly small but somewhat diverse, so I would say that there's something for anyone who eats some sort of meat, not very vegetarian / vegan friendly though. The thing that made me feel really weird was walking in and hearing some awful Christian radio station blaring through the speakers. It was so loud we literally couldn't hear each other over it. I understand if you're religious, but please, don't beat people over the head with it while they're trying to dine with you & enjoy other guests' company. They turned it down after we mentioned this & eventually switched it to Sinatra which was much more tolerable. Could be a very nice and inexpensive spot in Woodland Hills once they get their act & vibe together.

Love this place! The food is so good and the staff is super friendly and attentive! I'm so happy to have found this restaurant in our neighborhood. Until the minute we walk into the door until the minute we leave this place is a wonderful experience. Evey time we have been here the Chef/owner's mother has been there either visiting or helping out and she is so cute! Comes over to our table to make sure everything is fine and chats with us. They do not serve liquor but you can bring your own bottle of wine and they will not charge a corkage fee!
